It started as an email chain which focuses on my top ten favorite topics from each episode of LOST! I'm a little set in my ways on what I think should be happening on the show but I promise to carefully watch and examine each episode and offer my analysis and theories. I hope you enjoy and share it!Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.comBlogger45125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-40503729066229816812010-05-24T10:15:00.016-04:002010-05-24T12:57:56.286-04:00Episode 17 - The EndWell, I truly never thought this day would come and as sad as I am to see Lost go, it was quite a ride! It had its ups (Kate and Jack!) and its downs (Nikki and Paulo) but all in all it was a groundbreaking series that transformed the way viewers interacted with television. I hope you all enjoyed the finale as much as I did and aren't too disappointed with the lack of answers, but if you think hard enough about the last ten minutes you'll realize that this was the perfect finale, and not just because Kate ended up with Jack, but because it really ended with what the show was about, the characters.

SUMMARY

Island

Jack and the gang move on to find Desmond to beat Smokey to the heart of the island. Desmond rescued by Rose and Bernard, offered to help him but ultimately sent him on his way. Before he could leave Smokey appeared and threatened to kill Rose and Bernard if Desmond didn't come with him and Ben. Desmond agreed and left with Smokey when they came across Jack and the gang. Kate tried to shoot Smokey but he told her to save her bullets as they didn't hurt him. Jack agreed that they both needed to take Desmond to the heart of the island and he left with Smokey and Desmond. Once they arrived, they lowered Desmond down into the spring and once at the bottom, he got in the spring and removed the cork causing tremors throughout the island. During this time, Jack and Smokey became mortal and fought. Smokey knocked Jack out and ran for the cliffs to get on his boat. Jack catches up with him and they Matrix style fight. Smokey is able to stab Jack and right when Smokey is about to slit Jack's throat, Kate appears and shoots Smokey with her last bullet. Jack kicks Smokey over the edge and returns to say goodbye to Sawyer and Kate. Jack declares his love to Kate and then Hurley, Ben, and Jack return to the spring. Jack gives Hurley the power to become the protector and Ben agrees to be his second. They lower Jack down where he rescues Desmond and plugs the hole back up bringing the spring back to life. Meanwhile Kate and Sawyer find their way to the plane, grab Claire, and hop on board with Miles, Richard Alpert, and Frank Lupidus. The plane starts and they fly away. Jack wakes up outside the spring and wanders through the jungle to the bamboo forest where he initially woke up after the crash. He lays down, is joined by Vincent the dog and closes his eyes and dies.

Sideways Flash

The entire gang was making their way to the concert at the Whidmore's. At the hospital Juliet enters Sun and Jin's room to assess the status of the baby. When she goes to give the ultra sound Sun and Jin remember their past life and are happy. Juliet finds her son and ex husband Jack in the lobby and their son says he's taking Claire to the concert and will meet his dad there. Jack goes into surgery with Locke who wakes up and is able to feel his legs. He then remembers his past life and tries to help Jack remember, telling him he's ready and needs to let go. He tells him he never had a son and needs to go with him. Meanwhile Hurley shoots Charlie with a tranquilizer gun and throws him in the back of the car and then takes Sayid to a bar where a fight is happening outside. A man (Boone) is thrown to the side and once the girl is hit Sayid rushes to her aid and finds Shannon. They both remember and embrace. Boone comes over to thank Hurley for finally coming. Desmond and Kate show up at a church to sign for Jack's father's coffin and asks that it be put inside. He then takes Kate to the concert where she finds Claire and they both recognize each other from the hospital. Claire sees Charlie on stage where he was woken up by Charlotte who finds Daniel back stage and they remember each other. While Charlie is on stage he recognizes Claire who begins to go into labor. Kate goes to help her and they deliver Aaron backstage with Charlie's help. All three remember their past lives and Charlie and Claire kiss. Miles had seen Sayid at the concert and alerts Sawyer to this. Sawyer runs to the hospital to protect Sun and Jin when he comes across Juliet who was called away from the concert for an emergency. Upon seeing each other they remember and Juliet repeats her last lines from before she died on the island. When Jack finally arrives at the concert he's too late. Kate sees him and tells him that he will remember soon if he follows her. She takes him to the church and says everyone is waiting for him and to go around the back. He finds his father's coffin and opens it to see it's empty. His father appears behind him to tell him that everyone is waiting for him. Jack remembers his life on the island and through a series of flashes he sees all the peeople he's helped, lost, and loved. They embrace and Jack lets go. Christian Shepard tells him that he created this place for everyone to reconnect and Jack enters the church to find all of this friends together from the island. Kate holds his hand as they sit down at the church and Christian walks out into the light.

Well, I can't even believe that I just wrote the summary to the last every episode of Lost! The flash sideways was hard since it was very choppy and sappy. So I think it's important to say that the ending was left open to a number of interpretations and my below points will detail my thoughts on the finale so I don't know if everyone will agree but I think that was the point, you could kind of decide on your own ending.

1. I cannot describe the extreme satisfaction I derived from being right all along - Jack and Kate would end up together and they would do so in a very Titanic like fashion. Needless to say when Jack and Kate professed their love for each other I was ecstatic. They were the main love story from the beginning so it only made sense for them to end up together, and major props to the creators for making it happen in both story lines - on the island and in Jack's alternate reality!

2. So here is my take on the sideways flash ending. Life on the island was real - everyone really was alive and lived their life as it was portrayed. Some people died on the island (Jack, Boone, Shannon, Eko), some died off the island (Locke), and some died after the island (Kate, Sawyer, Richard, Miles, and Frank) but in the end everyone died. When Jack died, he created this alternate reality in the sideways flash to bring everyone back together. So yes it took place in 2004 but there's not telling when this 2004 took place. In a sense the show "Lost" was all about Jack and his perception of his life and death and every person on the show had their own "Lost" show. We as viewers caught a glimpse into Jack's. So he created this world where they all got to be together. They showed up on the island for a purpose, they were lost within their own lives and couldn't get past the difficulties that led them to where they were before the crash. Once they crashed on the island they had the opportunity to redeem themselves and find hope and meaning in relationships they created with each other. Jack created the alternate reality as a mechanism to help people let go and cure the loneliness and disconnect they had with their previous life. Once the character was able to let go of their past life, they were allowed to join the others in the church and pass on.

3. You can also look at the island as a test. These people were given the chance to redeem themselves to see if they would be allowed to enter their respective heavens. If you see at the end, the very god like "Christian Shephard" as Kate pointed out, was standing in front of a window that represented all of the major faiths in the world. I think Lost left us with this open ended possibility is once these people were at peace with themselves and passed the island's test of humanity, they were able to pass on to their respective heaven. Again I default to Titanic where they lived out their lives, be it they passed too soon or lived to an old age, they all were able to meet up in the flash sideways where they were truly meant to be and with the people they were meant to find.

4. Of the reunions on last night's show I have to highlight the ones between Sayid and Shannon and Claire and Charlie. They were the best of the night and my heart was melting after watching everyone get reunited - it was a veritable love fest and I LOVED it. I forgot how much I missed Shannon and Boone and when Sayid rescued her I almost died. Thank god for Vampire Diaries because I don't know how much longer I could have lived without Boone on my TV screen! But Claire and Charlie's little family unit was adorable, mostly due to the fact that Claire wasn't wearing that hideous wig anymore!

5. When Jack went down the spring we all knew that was the end of him(even though me thinks he should have been healed by the magical spring and if Kate can survive a gunshot wound to the shoulder in a jungle then certainly Jack could survive a measly stab wound). However, seeing the spring and the giant cork that plugged up the entrance to Hell certainly made the wine reference from the beginning of the season make sense. I understand the religious ramifications when drinking the water turned into wine which made you the island's protector but it also worked that the spring was a cork preventing the evils of Smokey from escaping the island, almost like a Pandora's box. But it turns out we needed to uncork it to make Smokey mortal thus allowing us to kill him (and by us I mean Kate being bad ass with her gun and Jack's swift kick over the edge of the cliffs). All of this was a little predictable but we all knew we couldn't just let Smokey escape!

6. As I predicted, Jack was only the protector for a little while (2 1/2 hours I might point out!) and then Hurley took over with Ben at his right hand side. While I think Jack was the obvious choice, Hurley was clearly the better fit for it - as we've seen him in this compassionate role for six years now, of course he should rule protector over the island. Jack on the other hand has always been a hot head, not always thinking things over before acting, which is why he was perfect for the temporary protector from Jacob. He had to sacrifice himself for the island to get done what needed to be done while leaving it in the hands of someone fully capable. I'm happy for Ben too because his whole life he's lived for the island and now he gets a chance to guard it for real this time. I think Jacob left him out of the loop too much which caused his disgruntled attitude and often reckless behavior but now, ruling with Hurley who needs his help, he can achieve his goal of protecting the island he loves, this time with a better outcome.

7. The fight between Jack and Smokey was awesome, and I so called it going Matrix style. Smokey needed that beating and I never say no to Jack looking awesome and muscular while fighting bad guys. When Kate showed up to save the day it just made everything better. Few problems with that whole scene though - when I jump off cliffs (which you might not think this but I am adventurous) I don't jump head first, I tend to go feet first, for safety reasons. So come on Kate and Sawyer, don't you think it was a little risky? Also I think once Smokey was shot, I probably would have done something else to just make sure he was dead before I threw him off the cliff. I mean this is an evil pillar of smoke we're talking about here people! I wouldn't change a thing about the Kate and Jack embrace except I'll add a "take that Juliet and Kate lovers!" muahahah.

8. So why were some people in the church and others weren't? I think some are obvious - Michael was stuck on the island for eternity and Ana-Lucia, come on, I think we're all happy she wasn't there. I am curious as to why Miles wasn't there with his dad but then again I think this is Jack's alternate world and had the people there that were important to him. Also important to note is Ben's refusal to enter the church. He said he wasn't ready to let go which seems to be how you are able to enter the church. Everyone else found their redemption through love, romantic and friendly, Ben however was only ever to achieve his goals with deception and violence therefore he wasn't ready to pass on. He mayb able to achieve it someday with the help of Danielle and Alex.

9. While most of the mysteries were solved, some were not. We can't act surprised since we knew we wouldn't get all of our answers and I will let the creators slide since I don't think they even realized the beast they created in the beginning. A few questions I would have liked to seen answered would have been 1. Walt. Why was he so special and why did we never find out his importance to the island and his control over animal life? My assumption is that this was poor casting - he grew too fast and couldn't figure out how to get him into the story line so they just sent him away to live a happy life off the island. 2. Mother. How did she get there and why did she choose Jacob over Smokey? I'm assuming that we were never intended to get an answer to the island origins, just that it was the beginning of time and much like we don't know how we got here for sure, we won't be finding out how lostie island came to be. 3. The island. Why did they time travel, how come no one could find it and how the heck did it move around? I think all of those questions relate to each other, it was hard to find because it moved and it had to move to stay hidden. We also couldn't think of time as linear, we could bounce back and forth and sometimes skip certain parts - but I think everyone agrees we had to leave behind our sense of reality with the series as a whole. So those three questions are the biggies for me in being unresolved and that's too bad.

10. Way back in the beginning the producers said it wasn't purgatory. Many, many times they confirmed it wasn't, and in the end it was and it wasn't. The island was not purgatory, but a means to reach it. Jack created his purgatory and through their redemption on the island, they were able to find who and what they needed in purgatory. Once they entered the church they accepted their lives and moved on, with Christian Shepard leading the way to heaven. Heavily religious but any world with Kate and Jack together with Jack in a suit, I'll take it!

I think when I sat down to watch the pilot way back in 2004 I never expected that a show could draw so many thought provoking questions. I also appreciate and thank the show for making the science fiction genre much more mainstream and myself much less dorky .... oh wait, a science fiction blog still makes you dorky? okay whatever! I've always loved television as much as I love books and music and to find something that I can discuss on all levels was a treat. While my grammar has been less than perfect in my blog I hope my enthusiasm for the show and the love of the discussion has come through and you were able to disregard the fact that I was an English major (thanks Mom and Dad for the education!) I hope I was able to clear up a few of the mysteries and really get you thinking from a different perspective. I've always loved interactive stories and this show was just a perfect escape for a weekday night. Whether you're a fan from the very beginning, watching it on DVDs, or just eager to be in the loop, I think you'll be happy you stuck it through. I certainly am and I hope you all enjoyed reading along and thank you for indulging me while I put my thoughts out there. You guys are the best!

xo

B
Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-79953485719708073982010-05-19T10:29:00.016-04:002010-05-19T12:56:51.332-04:00Episode 16 - What They Died ForWell I can't believe the series is wrapping up and we only have one episode left ... what a long ride it's been! I hope you all tuned in last night because good old Jacob confirmed quite a few things for us!

SUMMARY

Flash Sideways

Jack wakes up in his apartment and has a small cut on his neck. His son enters the bathroom to tell him he made breakfast and Claire joins them at the table. They talk about Jack's son's concert that night and how they're all going to attend, the son urges Jack not to get weird when his mother arrives. Jack receives a call from Oceanic to tell him they found his father's coffin. The caller is actually Desmond who is watching a healed Locke cross the parking lot at school. Ben Linus notices him and attempts to make a citizen's arrest when Desmond gets out of the car and starts beating him up. Ben has a flash of recognition from a previous beating from Desmond in his other life and Desmond tells Ben he was trying to help Locke "let go" and flees. Ben relays this message to Locke and Locke urges Ben not to call the police. Locke instead goes to visit Jack and tells him the series of events and how he wants to proceed with the surgery. Jack urges him not to confuse coincidence with fate but Locke believes its his destiny and Jack agrees to help. Meanwhile Desmond goes to see Sawyer and turns himself in for Locke's hit and run and attacking Ben that morning. Sawyer puts him in a cell with Sayid and Kate. They are then transported to county jail, even after Kate asks Sawyer to let her go. Once inside the transport truck, Desmond asks Kate and Sayid if they wanted to leave and they agree to trust Desmond with whatever he asks in return for their freedom. When the truck stops after they promise, Ana Lucia lets them out and Hurley meets them to exchange $150k to Ana Lucia for her services. Sayid goes with Hurley while Kate goes with Desmond who informs her they are going to a concert. Meanwhile Ben is offered a ride home from school from Alex's mother Danielle Rousseau. At dinner Ben gets choked up when Danielle tells him that Alex views him as a father figure.

Island

The losties mourn the loss of Sun, Jin, and Sayid when Jack makes the decision for the group to carry on to find Desmond in the well after stiching up a wounded Kate. While journeying inward Hurley sees a flash of young Jacob who asks him for the ashes Ilana gave him. He runs away with them and Hurley chases after to find the older Jacob at a fire. He tells Hurley that he will only be alive for as long as the fire burns. Soon Kate, Jack, and Sawyer come across Jacob and to Hurley's astonishment they can all see him. Jacob sits them down to explain why he brought them there. He said he made a mistake a long time ago and knew one day he would have to pay and he brought them to the island to help him defeat Smokey and to become the new protector of the island. He explains that one of them will have to assume the role and he is giving them the choice. Jack agrees and believes it is his purpose for being there so Jacob guides him to the light source of the island. He explains to Jack that it's location is beyond the bamboo he woke up in when he first landed on the island. He goes to the stream, cups water into his hand and says a prayer. He gives the water to Jack who drinks it and assumed Jacob's role.

Ben, Richard, and Miles approach Othersville in hopes of getting enough C4 explosives from Ben's house to blow up the plane. Before entering Miles becomes aware of Alex's body and Richard reveals that he buried it. While inside Ben's secret closet they come across Zoe and Whidmore. Whidmore explains to Ben that he's already laced the plane with explosives and that he's always a step ahead of Ben. When Whidmore reveals that he's here to help he tells Ben that Smokey is on his way. Miles freaks out and decides to retreat to the jungle. Richard thinks he can reason with Smokey and Ben decides it's time to face the music and he wants to wait outside for Smokey. They tell Whidmore and Zoe to hide in the closet. Smokey appears in Othersville and knocks Richard Alpert into a tree. He appears to Ben as Locke. Ben spills that Whidmore and Zoe are inside and armed. Locke asks Ben to help him kill people so he can get off the island. Once inside Smokey kills Zoe once she speaks. Smokey then asks Whidmore why is really there and he will not harm his daughter once he gets off the island. Whidmore tells Ben to leave since he won't say it in front of him and whispers it into Smokey's ear, however before he can finish Ben shoots Whidmore. Smokey is surprised by Ben but tells him he knows what he needs. Ben asks Smokey who else he needs to kill.

Ha wow - that was a tough once since there were about 4 different story lines but I hope I got everything! On to the last top 10 where I can actually speculate - I can't believe we only have 1 episode left!

1. The death toll in this episode is up in the air. Yes, we lost Zoe (thank god because those glasses were killing me!) and a big player Whidmore. But we also are led to believe that Richard Alpert is dead too. But I'm not buying it since he was important enough to dedicate an entire back story episode on him. Plus we want to see him reunite with his long lost wife! Whidmore was a shock because he has been a key player in this since the very beginning ... mysteriously funding the research and trips to the island, and searching for it himself. But I guess if others (Smokey) know his plan that Desmond is his fail safe, others will find out and try to stop Smokey.

2. My problem with this episode is the way Jacob chose his candidate. It seemed too easy. He narrowed it down to his top four apparently and let them choose amongst themselves. Of course Jack couldn't resist the opportunity and Sawyer nailed it on the head when he said Jack has a God complex. Jack just seemed like the obvious choice and in a show where the obvious is never usually the right answer I would have thought they'd gone a different route. That being said I don't think Jack will be the final candidate ... I was always thinking it would come across Hurley's plate since he's the most compassionate and compliant character on the show. I also think crossing off Kate because she became a mother was ridiculous because HELLO it's NOT HER BABY! Wouldn't Sun have been crossed off too? That answer angered me.

3. I think we got our answer with how Jacob knows everything he knows. It seems to be inherited once you accept the position of the island's protector. A look of knowing and understanding came over Jack's face at the end where it seemed like Jacob's knowledge passed along to Jack. We also learned that Jacob didn't want the job but held on to it for as long as he could and that Jack would have to do the same. I guess he'll hold on for another two and a half hours.

4. I liked how the flash sideways were mimicking the other universe, in that Jack and Locke had an almost exact conversation of what they had on the island. They're all inherently the same. And although we know that Desmond's ultimate plan is to get them all in one place, which will be this concert, we still don't know what his end game is. Besides getting them all to remember the alternate universe I can't speculate on what will then happen.

5. Jacob told the candidates that his job was to protect the light from the MIB and that it will now become Jack's job. But why is that different from Mother's job? Mother didn't have a Smokey to protect the light as far as we know - so what was her job on the island? I think this is going to frustrate a lot of people, not knowing how she got there, what her purpose was and I honestly don't think we'll get an answer. I think if we think of the island as the beginning of time and a protector must exist to protect it at all times whether its Smokey or some other evil threat then perhaps we don't need to delve much more into it. I'm a little unsatisfied with it but then again I've been preparing myself for having some mysteries remain just that.

6. Sayid and Kate seem to be last on the list for Desmond to clue into their alternate lives so it was funny to see how clueless they were. I like that Hurley is on team Desmond and seems to remember both lives now. They're going to gather everyone at the concert - Jack and yes, I'm going to say it, Juliet because she will be the mother of his child. I was thinking about it a lot and decided that Jack's son purposefully has bright blue eyes so that could be the trait he got from Juliet. It kills me that they were even together in this universe but I feel a little better knowing that it didn't work out. Juliet will reunite with Sawyer when he shows up to arrest the fugitives and Kate with Jack attending his son's concert. I'm sure Charlotte, Miles, Faraday, Libby, etc will all be there too! I won't lie - I sort of envision my ending for Lost to be like that of Titanic - everyone will be together in heaven and Jack and Kate will get together while everyone else claps in approval. Hey, a girl can dream can't she? Oh and my friend Maureen came up with a good point - Juliet before she died had asked Sawyer to go for a cup of coffee - she bets that Juliet will say this to Sawyer when she meets him at the concert ... so it was a little flash forward to that moment where they all meet up again? Time will tell!

7. Ben kills me sometimes, he really does! I was a little mad when he shot Whidmore because come on! I wanted to hear what he had to say about Desmond being the fail safe and what his plans were with him. He acted too fast when he shot Jacob and now he is just a crazy man when he shoots Whidmore. And his reasoning was really dumb too - ok so he didn't kill Penny when he had the chance and decided to let her go but now all of a sudden he's like, screw it, kill Penny? Seems like he's going to be Smokey's henchman now and kill off all the candidates which he can now since a candidate was chosen - me thinks Hurley, Kate, and Sawyer are no longer safe from being killed off since they're not candidates so they better watch their back!

8. It was funny to see Danielle Rousseau in a dress, and flirting with Ben Linus nonetheless! So Alex's love for Ben was really as a father, what he wanted all along. Good because in the last episode with them it was a little creepy.

9. Now that Jack is immortal will his first order of business be to create another immortal friend like Jacob did with Richard? I hope so and I hope he chooses Kate! Nah they've got to find Desmond first and protect him, or use him as the fail safe key ... but didn't they do that after season 2?

10. One thing I liked was how Jacob just sat them all down to explain some stuff because that's what always bugged me, is they would capture someone who has the answers and then never try to get it out of them. And they reacted as I would have, asking him to clarify why they brought them. His answers were lame - because they were all flawed and not happy with their current lives. I would say that just about sums up everyone in the world. Jacob said the island needed them and they needed the island. I can get on board with that but I probably could have used something like why he put them through such a rigorous test to narrow it down to them 4 to just be like, well who wants it?

So that's it folks - the last regular episode ever. If ever there was a time to post your final theories its now because after Sunday's finale there is no more! I've appreciated everyone who comments and puts some thought into it each week and I truly hope for all our sakes that we get our answers. Oh and one favor I will ask is that if the worst happens (Jack and Kate do not end up together) we keep our gloating to a minimum. Thank you.

xo

B
Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-73415813801735144032010-05-12T09:33:00.005-04:002010-05-12T15:09:14.312-04:00Episode 15 - Across the SeaVerrrry interesting episode! A flashback to how Jacob and MIB started - something I think we've been wanting to know. Not sure anything really surprised me, except that Allison Janney was their mother, but I digress. On to the summary!

SUMMARY

Island

A woman washes ashore and is rescued by an island inhabitant (Mother). Mother helps the woman who has apparently ended up on the island by accident to deliver her baby. She urges Mother to let her find the rest of her people however Mother delivers the first baby who the woman names Jacob and is surprised when she delivers a twin whom she has no name picked out for. Mother places the babies aside and kills the woman with a rock. Years later the boys have grown into teens. Jacob and his brother live with Mother and one day while playing together the boys come across others on the island. They hide and then run to Mother to question her. She tells them it's too early for them to know but she blindfolds them and takes them to a special stream with an aura of light glowing from a cave. She tells them this is the life force of the island and all that exists and they are there to protect it from others. When they return to their home, Jacob and MIB are out playing when their actual mother appears to MIB and begs him to follow. MIB leaves Jacob behind and his mother tells him who she is and what happened. When MIB returns he tries to recruit Jacob to follow but Jacob decides to stay. Jacob and MIB stay in touch over the years without his mother's knowledge and one day MIB tells Jacob he found a way to leave the island. Jacob reports this back to his mother and she follows MIB. She confronts him about leaving telling him he can't, that he belongs on the island. He is distraught that she stole him from his people and he demonstrates the immense power the island has and how he searched the island for the life source and found an alternative way into it. They dug deep to find it and he plans on installing a wheel to help him access the source so he can leave the island. MIB decides to kill Mother and follows Jacob to the life source. Once there MIB tells Jacob he's leaving and they fight. In the midst of the fight MIB smashes his head on the rock and he dies. Jacob lets him flow down the river where he returns as a pillar of smoke. Jacob finds MIB's dead body on the other side of the cave and places his body along with Mothers, in the cave. He places 2 rocks inside their pockets and we have a flashback to when Kate and Jack discovered the bodies in the cave.

Okay so I hope I got the order right with my summary but basically it was a very linear plot with some answers and some more un-named new characters. awesome.

1. So basically, with only 3 1/2 more hours left of Lost, the creators decided to dedicate an entire episode to Jacob and Smokey's back story. I mean, it was certainly interesting, and explained a few things, but really, a whole episode without the entire main cast? At least they threw us a bone in the end and gave us a little Kate and Jack but still, die hard fans knew what the reference was with the bodies so they didn't need to insult us by giving us a flashback to say "remember this?". It was a risky plot decision but in the end I think it was necessary for us to see how it all began.

2. I did not have any idea that Allison Janney was being cast in this series! I'm not a huge fan of hers so I guess it was fitting since I didn't really love her character. What was interesting with how they portrayed her as the vessel for telling Jacob and Smokey's story but they conveniently left out telling us how she arrived at the island. We know she was Jacob's predecessor for protecting the island but that's about all we know of her history. Oh and she likes to murder people who wash ashore to have babies. Also she joins the rank of baby stealers.

3. The "life source" of not only the island but the world is located at the top of a river. I guess it makes sense with water always being associated with providing life but the graphics were mega-cheesy. Somehow the creators of Lost showed us what they were protecting it but still left it unexplained. It's getting too religious on me and I can't speculate what the source is other than God himself. She said they could never go in there and even when MIB did, he came out as Smokey and we never were told anything more about it.

4. Is it wrong to think that Smokey was a cute teenager? And that adult Jacob still creeps me out because he was Rita's abusive husband on Dexter? (Awesome show btw - if you haven't seen it you must must catch up for season 5!) Well it was probably creepy of me to say so but I don't blame MIB for being curious about what exists beyond the sea. And once he finds out that others (hey the original Others!) are on the island, I don't blame him for wondering more about it and defying Mother to get some answers. I feel like MIB is a Lost viewer - he needs answers and he needs them now!

5. When Mother died at the hands of Smokey, she whispered "Thank you" to him. She clearly was overwhelmed by the years she spent protecting the island and was grooming the boys to become her replacement. It was interesting how Jacob mentioned to her that it seemed like MIB was who she wanted to replace her all along but instead she has Jacob. I would have thought she would have seen how good Jacob was over the years and he would have been the obvious choice. Then again Mother isn't completely innocent either since she did murder the woman who washed ashore as well as MIB's entire camp. The lines between good and evil are still so blurred and I think in the finale we'll get the clear distinction as to who is good and who is evil - and who will win.

6. I really can't believe they actually revealed who the skeletons were in the cave. I thought for sure that was a mystery that was going to go unsolved. But if my memory serves me right, didn't Jack diagnose they as no major traumas and that it took 40-50 years for clothes to deteriorate like that? Clearly they both died traumatically and over 50 years ago. But I'll let that one slide Lost ...

7. Did Smokey exist before MIB died or was he created when MIB died? So Smokey could in fact not be MIB at all, he could be the actual counterpart to the life source and by Jacob sending MIB's body down the hole, he was able to release Smokey. But from the conversations MIB has had with Jacob post being Smokey, I have to think a part of him is still in there, that's why he has this vendetta against Jacob. I hope that was clear.

8. A parallel between Jacob and Mother is that it seemed like Mother knew she was going to die, so she said goodbye to Jacob and told him he was to take over, in not so many words. Also once MIB had killed her, it was like she expected it, but thanking him for releasing her. It also seemed like Jacob knew he was going to die as well, I wonder if this was part of the process?

9. Ok so whats with no one having names anymore on Lost? For what seemed like a show where names were super important - most of the new characters I find I'm having to invent something to call them!

10. MIB had some interesting things to say to Jacob in so far as the rules of the island. He gave Jacob the idea that he could make up his own rules - create his own destiny perhaps? But we all know that somehow the two of them, through Mother I assume, cannot hurt each other - until Jacob has died. I don't think it was every MIB's plan to be trapped on the island or fight with Jacob but that's what has happened and I think it was carefully orchestrated by Mother once she saw that MIB was not capable of leading the island ... is it because he always longed for more even though he lived in a veritable paradise? I think that too is the over-arching theme to Lost - anyone who isn't satisfied with the island, it usually doesn't end well for them.

Okay folks, only two more episodes to post your theories! The finale is next Sunday, May 23rd and it's 2 and a half hours long followed by a special with the entire cast on Jimmy Kimmel.

xo

B

Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-17519188179558241772010-05-05T11:33:00.009-04:002010-05-05T13:16:40.695-04:00Episode 14 - The CandidateOkay now we're getting somewhere!! Lost was insanity last night - major character deaths, Jack in a t-shirt AND a suit, and we're down to the final four! Read on friends!

SUMMARY

Island

Whidmore is rounding up the losties and stuffing them back into the Dharma cages. He assures them that he's only trying to protect them. While in the cages, Smokey appears and takes out Whidmore's cronies and Jack shows up to help the losties escape. They head off towards the Ajira plane to leave the island. Once they get there Smokey kills the two guards and boards the plane. He finds it rigged with wires and C4. He brings it out to show his followers and he decides the only way off the plane is via submarine. While making their way to the sub they come under heavy fire from Whidmore's gang and Kate is shot in the shoulder. Smokey secretly switched Jack's pack for his. Jack, who said he wasn't coming along, pushes Smokey into the water, grabs Kate, and heads for the sub. Once inside they commandeer the sub and unfortunately Sawyer can't get Claire in time and they begin to dive down. Jack begins tending to Kate's shoulder when he opens his pack to find the C4 rigged up with 4 minutes to go. He insists they return to the surface and Sayid concludes it can be offset by pulling out the wires simultaneously. Jack realizes that this was Smokey's plan all along and that nothing will happen if they let the time run out. Sawyer doesn't want to take the chance and pulls the wires out. The countdown is momentarily stopped and then begins to rapidly increase. With only a minute left Sayid grabs the explosives and tells Jack he believes in him and runs to the other side of the sub where it explodes. Sun gets stuck under a large obstruction and at the last minute Jin urges everyone else to escape and stays with Sun while they plummet to the bottom of the ocean, tearfully. Kate, Hurley, Sawyer, and Jack make it to the surface.

Flash Sideways

Locke wakes up in the hospital to find that Jack has saved him. Jack tries to convince Locke that he is a candidate for a test surgery and he thinks that he could fix Locke's back. When he urges Locke to tell him how he was injured Locke refuses to tell him and declines the surgery. Since Jack needs his answers he decides to investigate and obscurely goes to Locke's dentist of 3 years ago. Bernard can't give him any answers but gives him the name Anthony Cooper, a man who was in the same accident. Jack returns to the hospital and runs into Claire who has come to see him about something Christian left her, a small wooden music box. Jack doesn't know what it is and then invites Claire to stay with him since they're family. Jack then tracks down Anthony Cooper at a nursing facility and he runs into Helen. Helen urges him to leave but then gives in and shows Jack to Anthony who is completely unresponsive since the accident. Jack returns to Locke at the hospital and tells him he had seen Anthony Cooper. Locke become agitated and tells Jack that he crashed his plane on his first official ride as a newly licenced pilot and his father, who was afraid of flying, did not recover from the crash. Locke feels eternally guilty and will not accept Jack's offer to fix his injury. Jack says he lost his father too and that it is time for them to move on, like Locke told Jack on flight 815, the man in the coffin wasn't Jack's father and Jack tries to tell Locke that the man in the nursing home is no longer Anthony Cooper and it was time to let go.

Phew! I always think its going to be so much shorter and then I decide to include every little detail!

1. I knew Jack would come back as the hero! He's going to save Kate, he knew the right answer for the bomb, he saved Sawyer and he will save the island! He figured out that Smokey can't kill them and he's trying to get around Jacob's rules by having them kill each other. Perhaps they should have listened to Whidmore and stayed in the cage!

2. Something interesting to think about is Smokey's thought process with this. He had switched his and Jack's backpacks before Jack "betrayed" him and threw him into the water (which is kind of a lame move considering he can turn into smoke and kill them all, or so he thought at the time). So does this mean that Smokey knew Jack would betray him and leave him off the sub so they would all blow themselves up? What would have happened if he had boarded the sub with the losties and tried to leave? He seemed pretty upset at the end when he realized that a few of them survived so it seems that his plan all along was to kill them. Looks like we have our answer if he's good or bad.

3. Well I've been complaining that the body count this season has been lower than I expected, and then they go ahead and kill off 3 major major characters. Some may argue that Sayid already died, but he seems to have made this sacrifice as the old Sayid before the darkness took over him so I guess we can call this his official death. Sun and Jin died, as expected, together. It was a very touching scene for sure but I have to say, Sun is a pretty skinny woman, are you telling me she couldn't slip out from those bars?

4. I almost died when Kate got shot! I won't lie, if she dies I'm actually okay with it. However, if she dies before she can profess her love to Jack there will be wrath brought down upon the shows creators like you've never seen!! No not really, I'll probably just curse the show out loud and admit defeat. I'm already predicting tons of emails about how wrong I am.

5. The sideways flash was a little boring for me this time around, besides the fact that Jack in a suit is pretty much always a win, but it was interesting to see how opposite Locke's life actually is. Yes he's still in a wheel chair but because of his own doing. He even managed to have a relationship with his father however he was his father's downfall - by urging him to join his first flight only to crash the plane and essentially end his cognitive life. So my question is, if Anthony Cooper was a good man in this life then was he Sawyer? Because our Sawyer still has that name ...

6. The end scene on the beach was what really got me with Sun and Jin's death. When Hurley started crying you realize how many of their friends have died because of the island. It's weird we're down to our final four players - Jack, Sawyer, Hurley, and Kate. Although Kate isn't on the list anymore so I'm sure she's a goner.

7. So the losties were on that sub for say oh 6 minutes before they discovered the bomb in Jack's bag. So when the submarine began to sink, and sink, and sink, did anyone wonder how far they had actually gone for the ocean to be that deep? And how they could possible have swam up there, each with a limp body in tow, and make it to the beach is beyond me. I'm gonna go with magic.

8. It's sad that they left Claire behind but they really had no choice since she refused to come when Sawyer was calling her. She's obviously going to feel deserted and try to kill someone - probably Kate since she's been trying to all season. Maybe something will happen where she goes to kill Kate and Jack steps in and ends up killing Claire! Probably not but who knows.

9. I thought once maybe we could escape a Jack-centric episode without him crying but I was wrong. Although I'll give him a break since 3 of his friends did just die. Notice how I said 3 - we still don't know if Lupidus is dead. I think they left it open ended on purpose because if they do take the Ajira plane off the island they will need a pilot and I think it would be a fitting end if they used a plane for their final escape, leaving Kate and Jack behind to populate Lost island with their babies. :)

10. The scenes from the next were uber lame. Lost is totally trying to not give us anything to look forward to next week all while mixing it with super old season 1 footage so they can pretend they've known what they've been doing all along. I don't buy it - show me some steamy Jack and Kate previews!

Bahh ok so not much more to go! Post your theories and make me feel special!

xo

B
Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-38645955726473172872010-04-22T18:42:00.010-04:002010-04-27T11:58:00.958-04:00Episode 13 - The Last RecruitHi all! So sorry for the late post, crazy week but here is my summary and thoughts on this week Jack-intensive episode! Boy oh boy does that man look good in a suit! Since it's been a week my summary will be a little light but I know you all did your homework and watched!

SUMMARY

Sideways Flash
Claire is on her way to the adoption agency after leaving the hospital and on her way she runs into Desmond. He convinces her to go see his lawyer, Ilana. While there Jack and his son also enter the room. They are there to hear Christian's will being read out loud and while there it is revealed that Claire and Jack are half brother and sister. Jack is overwhelmed and is paged for an emergency surgery. He arrives at the hospital to find his patient, a paraplegic, was hit by a car. That patient just so happened to be John Locke, who was brought in by Ben Linus, and Jack admits that he recognizes him. He was also recognized by Sun while on her way into the hospital. We find out that Sun's baby is okay and she has survived her gunshot wound. Meanwhile, Kate is being held in Sawyer's police station. He questions her on her charges and she coolly claims she's innocent. She asks him why he never arrested her at the airport and he plays dumb. Miles interrupts them and tells them they need to respond to a multiple homicide at a nearby restaurant. They arrive at Nadia's house to capture Sayid who is their prime suspect. Inside, Sayid tells Nadia he has fixed everything but must go. On his way out Sawyer captures him.

Island
Jack and Smokey have a talk about his plan to leave the island. Zoe appears to the group and demands they return Desmond. She threatens to blow them up if they don't hand him over by the end of the day. Jack and the gang begin to follow Smokey across the island when Sawyer informs Jack of his plan. Smokey had asked Sawyer to take the boat around the island and Sawyer decided to fill Jack in on his escape and cohorts with Whidmore. Sawyer leaves taking Kate with him while the rest march on. Smokey asks Sayid to go take care of Desmond. When Sayid arrives at the well to shoot Desmond, Desmond asks Sayid what he will tell Nadia of how he got her back? Sayid appears to have guilt over killing Desmond. Meanwhile Jack, Sun, Lupidus, and Hurley take off to meet Sawyer. Claire sees them and follows. She surprises them at the boat and Kate convinces Claire to join them saying all she wants is to reunite her with Aaron. Once on board Sawyer and Jack have a talk and Jack admits to having second thoughts. Sawyer tells him to leave and Jack swims to shore. He joins up with Smokey who gladly accepts him until they're attacked by Whidmore's people and Jack almost gets blown up. Meanwhile the boat arrives with Whidmore's people on the island. Jin is among the group and a tender reunion between Sun and Jin occurs. However Whidmore's gang phones into their headquarters and instead of honoring their agreement they are instructed to open fire on the group.

Phew just kidding, pretty detailed for a week later!!

1. So Jack is a babe and I looooove when they put him in a suit! But what's up with his son and his voice being about 10 octaves lower. Damn that was a fast transition into puberty! It was a tender reunion between him and Claire, I was happy they addressed this but they left it too soon since Jack was called into surgery for stupid Locke. I wanted to see Claire be all happy that she has a family, maybe she'll keep Aaron.

2. I think this episode explained why Desmond hit Locke with his car, to get him to the hospital so he could meet up with Jack. It seems like everyone is at the hospital or the police station. How will Desmond ever get those two groups to meet up? What is his ultimate plan? Does he think if he gets everyone together they will remember and somehow be magically transported back to the correct timeline? Either way I want more Kate and Jack in the sideways flash!

3. So Jack was the last recruit for Locke's army. When he jumped off that boat I for sure thought Kate was going after. You know she wanted to but feels like she has to stay for Claire. Me thinks a little reunion between them will happen soon, or is that wishful thinking? What are you all going to say to me if they don't end up together after years of preaching that it would happen? Also worth mentioning is when Jack flew back from the bomb on the beach he woke up and had a very interesting look on his face, sort of like the one Locke had on his face when he got hit by Desmonds car. I can't say why I thought that scene was important but it creeped me out a little.

4. I think one great thing the Lost creators are doing is keeping that little bit of doubt in your mind that maybe, just maybe, Smokey really is the good guy and Jacob is bad. I truly can't guess which one is right at this point although I'd like to say Jacob is being truthful in all that he says. Because it would be a nice little ending to have Jack replace him and the world be a safe place, but if I know Lost, and I think I do, that won't be the case.

5. So Sayid is still on his quest to get everyone together in the sideways flash. This begs us to ask the questions: A. Does he share a mind-link with Desmond back on the island or is he just doing this because he had the glimpse into the other world? and B. Why does he not care at all about Penny and Charlie anymore? Where did they go??

6. So clearly Sayid didn't kill Desmond, he's way too important to just end like that. The bigger question here is that Desmond was able to appeal to Sayid's human side, which most of us thought was lost when the darkness took over. So is Sayid able to be saved? Have we totally lost him forever?

7. Smokey admitted that he was Jack's dad on the island. Kind of disappointing seeing as I wanted Jack and Christian to make things right. I wonder why Smokey had to change from being Christian's form to being Locke's form? Will it make a difference in how he gets off the island if he ever does?

8. I know I've said it before and I'm sorry to say it again but I don't think our dear hot friend Sawyer has much time left on the island. The kill count has been considerably lower than I expected this season. He's tricked both sides, or so he thought, and will soon have to answer to both Whidmore and Smokey. I think he's a fan favorite which will make it a tragic loss to the series and yeah, I'll probably miss him when he's gone. I think we can all agree he isn't a candidate for taking over the island given his past behaviors so there isn't much more for him to do on the show. And as Lost usually goes, once the island is done with you, you're a goner.

9. Sun and Jin were finally reunited! It's been over 2 seasons in the making and it was certainly tender. It was a nice touch that their reconnection was able to cure Sun's speech loss. What's next for them? It's hard to say since they have a child off the island, but I don't think anyone is getting off the island, so they'll probably bite the dust. Ha I'm so morbid but their story is pretty much complete.

10. So clear sides have been drawn and we're still very much clueless on whom we should be following. Whidmore certainly hasn't come off as a good guy but he seems to be on Team Jacob who we'd like to think is. And Smokey just kills everyone for the sake of getting off the island while Whidmore is doing everything possible to prevent that from happening. So take your best guess because we don't have much longer!

So that's it folks. Sorry for the late posting but tonight is a re-run so hopefully this will tide you over until next week!

xo
B
Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-3002651230401710222010-04-14T12:19:00.008-04:002010-04-14T14:34:04.249-04:00Episode 12 - Everybody Loves HugoWhat an exciting episode last night! A few island answers, some off-island romance, and even ghost whispers!

SUMMARY

Island
The camp has divided into two teams - one who wants to blow up the Ajira plane and one who doesn't. Ilana is on Richard's side to blow up the plane but is a bit careless with her Black Rock dynamite and has Doc Arzt's unfortunate problem of blowing herself up. Richard explains that its because the island was finished with her and he gathers his crew to head to the Black Rock for more dynamite. Hurley is visited by ghost Michael who tells him that he can't blow up the plane. Hurley tries to get the group to change their plan but he ends up following the group to the Black Rock. Once they arrive they hear Hurley running from the Black Rock screaming for everyone to run. The Black Rock blows up and Hurley admits he did it because Jacob told him to. Hurley pretends like he's talking to Jacob and that he told him to lead the gang to Smokey. Richard realizes he's lying and the group separates. Jack follows Hurley because he asks him to trust him. Sun and Frank also follow him. Halfway to Smokey Hurley admits to Jack that he lied and Jack tells Hurley he was done being a leader and trying to fix things so he followed Hurley. Hurley decides to speak to Michael and asks why he's there. Michael tells him that he can't move on and is stuck on the island. He admits that the spirits are the island whispers and asks Hurley to forgive him for what he did to Libby. He points him in the direction of Smokey and the gang heads that way. Hurley approaches Smokey and reveals that if he doesn't harm them his gang will join up with Smokey.

While Hurley was leading his team across the island, Sayid was bringing back Desmond to Smokey. Once Smokey told an agitated Sawyer to wait, he left to begin questioning Desmond. He wanted to know why he was brought there and a very calm Desmond didn't have any answers for him. He explained that he was blasted with an EMP so Smokey leads him to an ancient well. He explains that it was built a long time ago by hand and the people that built it weren't looking for water. They were looking for the islands power. He also explains that Charles Whidmore wasn't there for answers, he was there for power. He asked Desmond why he wasn't afraid and Desmond said there was no reason to be and with that Smokey gave him the old heave ho' down the well. He returned to his camp to find the rest of the losties delivered to him by Hurley.

Flash Sideways

Hurley is being celebrated by Dr. Halliwax/Candle as a philanthropist at a gala. We find that Hurley struck it rich by way of his love of Chicken where he purchased Mr. Cluck's and began a major corporation. His mother thought his life was lacking a romantic interest and set him up on a blind date. While waiting for his date, Libby approached his table and explained that she knew him from another life and she had feelings for him. Her doctor came over to their table and apologized for interrupting Hurley's meal. He chased after her to realize she was being transported back to a mental hospital. Later, Hurley went to a Mr. Cluck's to eat an entire bucket of chicken when he was approached by Desmond. Desmond convinced him to give this mystery woman another chance to see if she was right. Desmond went to the Mental Hospital and convinced her doctor by way of a large donation to see her. Hurley visited her in the recreational room where some old favorites were hanging around. Libby tried to explain that she had flashes of Hurley from another life on an island. He apologized for not remembering but decided to take her on a date. He took her to the beach where they had a picnic and Libby kissed Hurley because she thought this scene was familiar, something they never got to do. At that moment Hurley remembered Libby from his un-lived life on the island. Desmond was in the background watching this all unfold. Once he saw them reconnect he moved on to Locke's school. He was approached by Ben and told to move on because, you know, staring at children at a school is frowned upon. Desmond starts up his car and drives straight into Locke who was wheeling himself to his car. Desmond drives away and leaves Locke bleeding in the road.

Wow, that was super long! I wanted to get every detail because I thought it was important, although I'm sure you didn't read since I hope you all watched.

1. Okay so the collision course these two time lines seem to be on are setting up an exciting ending. Desmond can communicate somehow between the two universes but what his motive is is still unclear to us. My roommate came up with a brilliant idea that maybe if you die in one universe, you die in the other. But I don't know if that can be true because we saw a very alive Charlotte getting it on with Sawyer and she died a while ago on the island. Same with Farraday. So what I think Desmond is trying to do with all the peeps from 815 is recreate the events in their island life so as to jog their memories from that life. Not everyone had a love story on the island like Desmond, Charlie, and Hurley so in Locke's case, he had to recreate him being hit by a car. Although he fell out of a window to become paralyzed in his island life, he did get hit by a car in the parking lot when he was chasing after his mother. Either way, the facial expression he made was eerily similar to when he crashed on the island.

2. I didn't even pick up on it that Hurley and Libby were recreating their date that never happened until they said how familiar it seemed. That was a very nice touching scene and I like how they both had this connection to the mental hospital. It still never explains why Libby was in the hospital in the island life but I suspect we'll never know. Just that it was important that their paths crossed in both lives.

3. As much as I hate Michael, his scene was also very touching. I like that he finally apologized to Hurley for what he did. But he also gave us a major answer by telling Hurley that the spirits on the island are not allowed to cross over and they are the haunting whispers we've been hearing for years. Wow, really? Ghosts are responsible for the creepy whispers? Lame explanation but I liked hearing that Michael was doomed to wander the island whispering. Makes it seem like the island really IS purgatory! Something the writers discredited a long time ago ...

4. Jack has really let me down this season. I expected him to step up and be the man, but its looking more like Jacob is grooming Hurley to be the caretaker for the island. Jack is just going with the flow, not trying to fix things. Maybe, Kate will realize this and love Jack again, I mean she did give him a cute smile when he came back. I don't like, however, that this change in Jack was caused by his guilt over Juliet's death. Just because she died he still isn't curious about the island? Please.

5. Woah! Smokey did not just push Desmond down that well!!! As if that could kill Desmond! A little careless that he didn't stick around to make sure he was fully dead if that was his intention. Clearly Desmond is going to magically still be alive at the bottom of the well. I think he will be there until Whidmore and company find him and use him for what they brought him here for. Also worth mentioning - who are these little kids that keep popping up? Must be the ghosts of Smokey and Jacob, but Desmond could see him too. I'm sure it will be explained soon.

6. Richard is still such an interesting character. I loved how he knew right away that Hurley was lying, because Jacob never tells anyone what to do. So what about those little lists he was creating along the way? Didn't he tell the Others to go steal those people? Anyways, I liked how Richard demanded that Hurley ask Jacob what the island was, he's still dying to know, as are we. Me thinks we won't find out until the very end, and what an exciting moment that will be!

7. Ilana blowing up was awesome. It was about time for her to go and I wasn't too shocked, plus Ben said the island was done with her. She was being mighty brutal with that dynamite. I think if we've learned anything from Lost its that Black Rock dynamite is temperamental. And also that when you're in a plane crash, its usually with a plane full of hot people.

8. So Hurley in the alternate universe is still a loveable guy. Always receiving awards for his good deeds. The only thing I was thinking about during this whole "Hurley is awesome" montage was that I don't know anyone who owns a fast food chain and yet this guy seems to be recognized everywhere he goes. Unless you count Ronald McDonald or that guy who owned Wendy's, Dave something, but I'm pretty sure he died, I don't know anyone who is famous for owning a fast food chain. I'm not even sure if people own up to that nowadays. Wow I don't know where this tangent is leading so I'll stop.

9. So how's it all going to end. I think the universes will collide for sure, once Desmond achieves whatever goal it is he's after. His determination in this world is certainly more so than the one on the island. Has he so quickly forgotten how he must get back to Penny and Charlie? I miss the old Desmond and hope he knows what he's doing. Maybe somehow Jacob influences Desmond through the whole EMP thing and he secretly has a plan. Why else would Smokey throw him down the well? He's clearly a threat to him.

10. Smokey mentioned that this wasn't the only well on the island. So is this not the same well that Locke went down to turn the wheel? Are these wells just primitive swan hatches? They dug because of the electromagnetic power they felt? Will this well lead to the answer of what the island is?

Four more episodes left! Here's to hoping there's a spin off! Although I'm hoping they don't because I don't know how long I can keep writing this blog :) Just kidding I'd do it forever for my loyal readers! Post your theories because we've only got a month left!

xo

B
Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-7327257579056471982010-04-07T11:24:00.010-04:002010-04-07T12:43:49.385-04:00Episode 11 - Happily Ever After Oh boy do I love me some Desmond-centric episodes! Not a ton of info and answers given to us but definitely some useful insight into the mystery of Desmond and the island!

SUMMARY

Island

Desmond wakes up to find he's been brought back to the island by Whidmore. After giving Whidmore a beat down he is subdued and Whidmore decides he is ready. Whidmore asks Zoe to prepare the machine. During the preparation process, a man is killed when he enters the wood box and the copper coils are turned on. Whidmore insists that they need to know is Desmond can withstand another electromagnetic event and they bring him to the box. Whidmore tells Desmond he needs his help. Desmond breaks free from the chair but the machine starts and he is wisked away to the alternate universe. Once he returns, Whidmore finds him alive and willing to help him. Along the way back, the group is approached by Sayid who kills everyone but Zoe and asks her to run away. She willingly obeys. Sayid asks Desmond to come with him and a very docile Desmond agrees.

Flash-Sideways

Once Desmond enters the machine on the island, he is transformed to the flash-sideways universe and is standing in front of the arrivals board at the airport. Hurley informs him what carousel the luggage is arriving at and while getting his luggage he meets Claire. He offers to give her a ride but she declines and as a parting farewell he tells her the baby will be a boy. His driver, George Minkowski, meets him at the airport and brings him back to the office. Whidmore, Desmond's boss, welcomes him with open arms and celebrates with a 60 year old glass of McCutcheons whisky for the deal Desmond recently closed in Sydney. He is interrupted when he asks Desmond to pick up a musician from jail and babysit him until he can perform at Whidmore's wife's charity bash with his son. Desmond agrees and goes to pick Charlie up. Charlie tells Desmond that right before he was rescued on the plane, he saw a blond girl and knew he loved her in another time. He tries to show Desmond what he means so he grabs the wheel and drives the car off the marina. Desmond is able to get himself and Charlie out of the submerged car but while underwater the scene from the island universe appears before him where Charlie was underwater and warning him about Penny's boat. While at the hospital he is given an MRI since his cat scan was inconclusive and halfway through he freaks out when he has a vision of him and Penny from their island life. He tells the nurse he needs to find Charlie and with Jack's help he does. Charlie convinces him that he saw the other life and should put all his energy into finding Penny. Desmond leaves the hospital to tell Whidmore's wife that Charlie won't be playing at the benefit and when he arrives at their house he finally meets Mrs. Whidmore aka Eloise Hawkings. She thanks him for delivering the news personally. While Desmond is leaving he hears the guest list being read off and the name Penny Milton. He stops to ask to see the list but Eloise intercepts and won't allow him. She tells him to stop looking for whatever he's looking for so he leaves. On his way out he is intercepted by Daniel Whidmore (Farraday) who tells him how he saw a red haired woman and knew he loved her. He then explains that the following day he woke up and wrote down highly complicated quantum physics in his notebook and believes that they are equations that lead to an alternate universe. He then offers to help him find Penny since she is his half sister. Desmond goes to the stadium where he finds her running. He goes up to her to ask her out and passes out right after they meet. When he wakes she agrees to meet him for coffee and Desmond happily returns to his car.

Wow that was a lot of info!! Now on to the theories although they're going to be more like observations and explanations since we only have 5 episodes left!

1. So I think what is happening here is the two universes are colliding and Desmond is the only one who can travel through both and make the connection that the two actually exist and are directly related to circumstances that happened in one. I think it's all leading up to an inevitable "crash" between the two universes. As in most time travel stories, you can't have more than one reality exist without destroying both. So I think that the little hints of recognitions in the flash-sideways and now the full on hallucinations are in fact the two universes colliding. How Desmond remains to be the only one who can travel through to both is still a mystery, but I think it will allude back to how he was painted as a Jesus figure in season 3 after the hatch blew, and he literally looked like Jesus. I also think the "sacrifice" Whidmore was asking for was Desmond, and I think he will die since he's already been reunited with Penny in both worlds.

2. So in the flash-sideways Desmond seems to have his life together. A good job, lots of money, travels the world ... but most of all he has what he lacked in his previous life - Charles Whidmore's approval. The only thing he's missing though is Penny. So Charlie asks the question is his life really better in this life? I think we can all agree a universal no, since he doesn't have Penny which is the best love story on this show! (counting Jack and Kate, yeah I said it!)

3. So Farraday makes an appearance in this side-flash and you guessed it, he crossed paths with Charlotte and experiences love at first sight! Pretty tender, but I think the important thing we take away from this is how much of his past island life is coming back to him. He wakes up one day and can write and understand the equivalent to a life spent studying quantum physics. He also is the second stranger to suggest to Desmond that an alternate universe exists, one they were supposed to live. So if Desmond is going to be the so-called spiritual guide from one universe to the other, it looks like Farraday will be the scientific link. But I'm not holding my breath for an explanation of how they bounce between the two.

4. So did anyone else get the feeling like this big machine that Whidmore had was straight up out of Jurassic Park? I half expected a velociraptor to jump out and eat everyone! But alas, it was a large crate with huge copper coils inside. I also doubt we will get an explanation on how this thing works but Maureen asked the question, is this the magic box that Ben was talking about that brought Locke's father to the island? I think not since that means they would have had to take him from the alternate universe and Locke is now friends with him in that universe but who knows! Good observation!

5. As we've been speculating, the island looks like its breaking down to good vs. evil and honestly I don't think we could expect anything more because isn't that the biggest battle there is? So since this island is the key to saving the world as we know it, wouldn't a battle of good and evil be just the thing to settle it? I also feel like there aren't too many more large mysteries to be solved except the whole who is on what team and who will win? They've answered all the biggies, now we're sort of just along for the ride!

6. So Sayid came out at the end to get Desmond, and the reason being that he is such a key player for Whidmore and team Smokey wants him. But why did Desmond go so easily? Maybe he thinks he can achieve what needs to be done from either side? What does this version of Desmond know now that he can travel between the two universes? And also, Sayid continues to be so badass!!

7. The real touching moment in the episode was when the car went off the marina and Desmond had his first real glimpse into the alternate universe via Charlie and his underwater antics. I thought the situation was a bit of a stretch but it did provide us the window to see into the island life they shared. Again I'm going to reference The Matrix in that this was a very deja vu moment, a glitch that lets us know something is there that shouldn't be. I guess the other big mystery aside from good vs. evil is which universe actually belongs.

8. If I have to look at Claire in that ridiculous wig for one more episode I might just start ignoring her story line altogether. It was tender though how Charlie saw her in his alternate universe flash. I almost feel like he should have referenced an empty jar of peanut butter or something.

9. Another thought for the Smokey/MiB vs. Jacob debate is that Jacob could be controlling the island universe and Smokey could be controlling the flash-sideways universe. Maybe whoever wins will have their universe be the winner! Maybe Jacob's universe is the one where people are with the people they love but for fleeting moments and Smokey's universe is one where people have settled and their life hasn't exactly been fulfilled. So maybe neither is good or bad, maybe one is just a different alternative to the other. Boy oh boy do I contradict myself from point to point!

10. The appearance of Daniel's mother Eloise was also really interesting and puzzling. While she appears to just be Whidmore's wife in this universe, she clearly knows something about the life she left behind. She's demanding that Desmond stops looking for whatever he's looking for. Does she know that if him and Penny connect, something will happen to this universe? Does she like it more since she's with Whidmore and has her son Daniel with her? Does she know that once Desmond connects with Penny, he will try to connect everyone else on the flight?

So I can't believe we're nearing the end of the series! Crazy stuff! Now is the time to post your theories so you can gloat at the end to see if you were right all along!

xo

B

Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-35990782434770310042010-03-31T11:42:00.008-04:002010-03-31T13:25:59.443-04:00Episode 10 - The PackageOh Sun and Jin! They begin to argue inside Sun's hotel room regarding the lost money when she begins to undo her blouse. When they wake in the morning there is a knock on the door. Keamy enters Sun's room looking for Jin. They find him hiding in the bathroom and after handing over the watch Keamy demands his money. Sun confesses that she has a secret account and can give him the money. Keamy sends Sun with the translator (Patchy!) and while at the bank learns that her father has emptied and closed the account. Meanwhile Keamy brings Jin to a restaurant and ties him up in a closet. While inside he hears shouting and a gunfight. Sayid opens the door and hands him a box cutter the get himself out. Sun and Patchy return to find everyone dead except Keamy. Jin approaches behind Patchy and holds him at gunpoint. A fight ensues and Jin shoots Patchy in the eye. Sun is shot in the cross fire and Jin picks her up.

Island

Richard Alpert returns to the island after Ilana has assured the group that he would return because Jacob has never lied to her. Richard tells them they need to go destroy the plane to prevent Smokey from escaping the island. She retreats to her garden when she is approached by Locke. He assures her he will take her to Jin and when she doesn't believe him she tries to run away but runs into a tree instead. Ben finds her and brings her back to the camp. Sun has lost her ability to speak English but can still comprehend. She freaks out on Richard Alpert by saying she didn't come to the island to save the world, she came for her husband. When she calms down, Jack approaches her and gives her a notepad. She discovers she can still write in English. Jack asks Sun if he trusts her and asks her to go along with him and Sun reluctantly agrees.

Back in camp Smokey, Jin is patching up his leg and plans his escape from the camp. He tells Sawyer he plans on looking for Sun back at the Temple and the beach. Smokey leaves the camp to go get Sun and after he's gone, the camp is under attack and everyone is hit with a poison dart. Jin wakes up in room 23 on Hydra island and Zoe comes in to question him. Jin demands to speak to Whidmore. Getting Jin this early wasn't according to Whidmore's plan but he agrees to speak to Jin. He tells Jin that if Smokey gets off the island everyone in the world will cease to exist. He then gives Jin a digital camera so he can see his daughter. When Smokey returns from unsuccessfully getting Sun, he finds everyone passed out. He asks Sayid to come with him on a mission to rescue Jin. He assures Claire that he needs her to help him get off the island and asks her not to harm Kate until after they get on the plane. Sayid and Smokey go to Hydra island where he finds that Whidmore has set up pylons to keep him away. Whidmore comes out to tell him that he doesn't have Jin and Smokey declares war. Sayid swims to the submarine to see what they have been guarding and it is Desmond, all groggy from the ride. They both recognize each other.

Wow, that was a long and complex summary. Bravo to those who actually read it!

1. The return of Patchy! I love love this character and while he was small in the tale of LOST I loved that they brought him back. He's just so awesomely creepy and its just goes to show that even the smallest of the Others connected with the island are creeping into each others lives in the flash sideways universe! Also so poetic that Jin shot him in the eye!

2. I was surprised to see that they weren't married in the flash sideways! But it was so tender to see that they do love each other and their relationship seems to be just as special - but this one seems to also have its treacherous moments. Her father still doesn't approve and he sends them both on this fools errand. It was horribly mean, but clever for Sun's father to send them to America together knowing full well that Sun thought she could run away with Jin. It was so horrible when Sun realized her account was empty and that Jin was delivering the payment for his own death.

3. So Whidmore tells us that if Smokey/MiB manages to leave the island, then the rest of the people left in the world will cease to exist. I'm just not sure how much of that I can buy. If he escapes and wreaks havoc among the rest of the world - fine, but if his escape causes the world as we know it to stop existing, then why is Smokey even trying to escape? So if he leaves the island and goes to ohhh say NYC and presumable destroys everyone, what is he going to do then? Walk around Soho, swim in the Hudson alone? For me, if I was the last person around after destroying everyone, I'd probably just want to chill on a beach. I think we're going to have to wait to get more from Smokey before we make a final judgement call on this one.

4. The return of Desmond! It was inevitable but I'm glad to see that Whidmore brought him. Maybe the reason he was trying to keep him away from Penny the whole time is so that he would end up on the island. Either he was acting in the interest of the island in trying to get Desmond there or he was trying to avoid Penny's heartache when he eventually left (maybe gives up his life?) for the island. So what exactly is Desmond's role? I'm speculating its something big, big in the way of saving the world kind of stuff!

5. Sawyer is truly starting to annoy me - how can he be so mislead into believing that Smokey actually doesn't know Sawyer is trying to double cross him! I think this is leading to Sawyer's demise ... but I'm okay with it so long as Kate can be with Jack, and Sawyer dies shirtless!

6. I want them to tell us why Claire is so crazy! We still don't know if she's been claimed like Sayid because we never saw her die! Here's to hoping she can be rehabilitated and reunited with Aaron in the end. After all, that crazy psychic said that she had to raise her baby and no one else!

7. Who is this Zoe woman and why is LOST trying to give me another eccentric scientist?! I want Farraday back! She is a Geo-physicist, big woop. Why is Whidmore still trying to figure out what the island is when clearly there is a war that is about to erupt? She needs to find the electromagnetic pockets on the island and thinks Jin's involvement with the Dharma Inititative will help. Didn't the losties destroy all of the when the blew up the yet to be built Swan station? What's left to investigate?

8. Keamy is such a creepy guy! Why won't he just die! Jin should have finished him off - but he was too busy with Sun. Here's my beef with Sun getting shot. She wasn't going to be able to help the situation and she clearly had enough time to run and hide, so she should have been able to run away and avoid the whole getting shot thing. But maybe it hit her spine and she'll have to go visit our favorite spinal surgeon Dr. Jack Shepherd!

9. I truly thought Jin and Sun would re-unite on last night's episode, seriously how long are they going to keep that going? I think they can't kill Jin or Sun off but I think Sun will be the candidate that Jacob speaks of since we've seen her character grow the most in the series. I'm also not sure that they can both still exist since we'll need one of them to die so we can know which one is Jacob's candidate. Although I would hate for either of them to die so let's hope I'm wrong.

10. So Smokey has officially declared war on Whidmore. It will be interesting to see who is really on who's side and who will ultimately be the victor. I think LOST has to end in a happy way but also a mysterious "we'll let the audience decide what happens" kind of thing. I'm not sure which way I'll prefer, all I know is I expect a lot of death and a lot of Jack and Kate love!

So that's it folks! I'm hearing some rumblings from my abc source that they're scheduling a repeat one week which is unacceptable but I'll see you all next week!

xo

B
Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-58205223024830822142010-03-24T09:53:00.007-04:002010-03-24T19:51:02.725-04:00Episode 9 - Ab AeternoOkay so this episode totally redeemed itself and made me remember why I love this show!! I want to do a quick recap so I can talk about all the ramifications and awesomeness that is Richard Alpert!

Flashback

Richard Alpert lives in the Canary Islands with his wife Isabella who is dying. He rushes to the doctor and when the doctor refuses to help him he offers medicine. Richard can't afford the medicine and in a fit of rage he pushes the doctor who hits his head and dies on impact. He rushes back to give his wife the medicine but it is too late. The officials come for him and he is put in jail. While awaiting his fate, a priest comes in to tell him he cannot forgive him for what he has done. While on his way to be hanged for his crime, the captain Hanso asks if he can speak English and when he does Richard is put in chains on a ship to the New World. While on board the ship, it crashes in a storm on the island. The boat crashes into the statue. When they wake the captain comes down and tells them that there are only a few survivors and very little supplies so he begins to kill the prisoners. Right before he gets to Richard, Smokey attacks them killing all of the sailors and the captain. He surveys Richard and leaves him. Richard tries to escape from his chains when in exhaustion he is visited by Isabella. She leaves to get help but is killed by the Smoke Monster. The Man in Black appears to Richard and tells him he will help him get his wife back if he helps him. Smokey asks Richard to take a dagger and kill a man on the island before he can speak. Richard agrees and goes off to find Jacob. He attempts to fight him but Jacob wins. Jacob proves to Richard that he is still alive by attempting to drown him. When things settle they discuss what the island is and Jacob compares it to wine in a bottle, and that he is the cork holding it in. And then he tells Richard that the island is the gateway to Hell, and he is the protector keeping it all in. When Jacob asks Richard to help him by being his main contact, Richard asks if he can have his wife back. When Jacob can't do that he asks for eternal life, which Jacob grants to him. Richard returns to the Man in Black and it is clear that Jacob has persuaded him to join his side.

Island

The gang is on the island wondering what they have to do next. Ilana tells the groups that they are candidates and she has to protect them. As for what to do next they have to turn to Richard Alpert. He tells them he doesn't know what to do and runs off in the jungle. Jack sees Hurley talking to someone in Spanish and asks him what Jacob is telling Hurley. Hurley insists it isn't Jacob. Richard is wandering through the jungle when he gets to the place where he buried his wife's necklace. He digs it up and screams that he's changed his mind and wants to join back up with Smokey. Hurley finds Richard and tells him that his wife is with him. Hurley translates Isabella's wishes and Richard is brought back to Jacob's side.

Wow, that ended up being long and I'm pretty sure I forgot a few things. But then again I'm sure most of you don't even read it!

1. Ok GREAT episode. We finally got the super awesome back story to Richard Alpert, a man of many secrets apparently. His story fit perfectly, he had nothing left to lose and everything to gain by helping Jacob on his quest. I loved how his story explained the Black Rock, the statue, and what the purpose of the island is. All huge mysteries resolved with an awesome character. And might I say that was some mighty acting!

2. So now that we know the island is the Hellmouth (hello Buffy fans shout out!) and Jacob is the slayer, I mean protector, then is Smokey pure Evil? I don't think so but that's what he makes it seem like. The island is a Pandora's Box of sorts and all that stands in the way of total chaos is Jacob. So Jacob is dead but he has been for a while now, so why hasn't Smokey escaped like he wanted to?

3. The conversation between Smokey and Jacob was really informative. I liked how Jacob is on the side of good and wants to prove to Smokey that man isn't inherently evil and adept to sin. While Smokey on the other hand seems fit to believe that he can corrupt anyone. I can't tell you the last time I read the Bible but I'm pretty sure this is very Adam and Eve stuff with the Devil as their temptress. Losties are A+E (also alluded to with the dead bodies in the caves from season 1 and more recent episodes), Jacob is God, and Man in Black is the Devil. Well if nothing else that tree that Richard was standing under at the end seemed like the tree of life, although my roommate told me it was a pickle tree so who knows.

4. So the LOST island really is, according to Jacob, a big experiment to see if people, with their free will intact, can make the right choices and live a good, moral life. Well, we've definitely seen the losties tested in a number of ways. Some have passed (Jack and Kate just being in love) and some have failed (Michael shooting Libby and Ana Lucia). But this was also probably part of the process of weeding out his potential replacements.

5. There were a ton of religious undertones in this episode but what I thought was most interesting was why Richard made the deal for eternal life with Jacob. He did it out of fear of damnation which is a pretty driving force. But did he really understand what eternal life is? I mean vampires have it and they are never happy! Do you think Richard forgot to watch Twilight? Because if he did maybe he would have asked for something else.

6. Okay so my question with Jacob has mostly to do with him dying. Jacob at first wanted to bring people to the island to test them, to see if they could make good choices on their own. He even hired Richard to help be his intermediary to remain distant from the masses. However, he brought this set of losties to find his replacement and chose to die the moment Ben wanted to kill him. So his mission, whatever it truly is, seems to have changed in this moment. What is the reason for him wanting a replacement and is that really what he wants? Did he sense that the Man in Black was never going to give up and had a back up plan just in case he succeeded? Maybe the reason he is looking for a replacement is because he knew he was going to die so that was his back up plan?

7. Hurley's talent of being able to talk to dead people is really coming in handy. But I think a big question to ask ourselves is, is the ghost really Isabella or is it Smokey? I want to say it's Isabella, because I want to believe that Hurley does actually talk to dead people, just like Miles has a similar talent. So maybe Smokey was being her when she "died" on the island but I think it was really her at the end when Hurley was translating to Richard.

8. I'm sort of glad we got spared the off-island universe this episode. It's starting to annoy me and I kind of want them to just have more episodes like this which explain everything!

9. I also want them to give Smokey/Man in Black a name! Why is he remaining so mysterious?!

10. Jacob and the Man in Black, for being enemies, play well off each other. They seem so calm when talking about how they want to destroy each other. Jacob gave Smokey back the white rock to show him that he still has power over him, and Smokey destroyed the bottle of wine to show Jacob that he is going to crush his plan. Ohhh I like what this brings to the table, although if I was stuck on an island I probably wouldn't be wasting wine like that.

Okay that's all folks! Sorry for the late post but feel free to post any comments!

xo

B

Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-88680351929799844862010-03-18T12:48:00.010-04:002010-03-18T16:59:48.498-04:00Episode 8 - ReconHi Friends! Well I apologize for the post coming a day late but to be honest, I thought this was one of the worst episodes of the season. Also I have a job that demands my attention. So this week I promise a short summary!

SUMMARY

On-Island
Sawyer is told by Smokey to return to Hydra Island to do some recon for his team. Sawyer agrees and Smokey admits to Sawyer, who knows he isn't Locke, that he is the "smoke thing". While Sawyer is over on Hydra, he finds the plane that landed there and a pile of dead bodies. He comes across a woman named Zoe who claims to be the last survivor. She asks to come with him and Sawyer knows that she's lying. She shows him the submarine with Whidmore on board. Sawyer promises Whidmore that he will bring Smokey to him. Sawyer returns to Smokey and tells him that he saw Whidmore and that he promised to bring Smokey to him. Sawyer then reassures Kate that he's getting them off the island.
While Sawyer was on the other side of the island, Kate is approached by Claire who seems to have warmed to her momentarily, until she tries to attack Kate. Kate pleads with Sayid to help her but he does not. Kate is approached by Smokey after the incident and she tells him she knows he isn't Locke.

Off-Island
Sawyer is a police officer who goes undercover. His partner Miles tries to set him up with someone his father works with. Sawyer goes to meet Charlotte and they hit it off. Sawyer gets angry with Charlotte when she snoops around his apartment and he kicks her out when he realizes she's discovered his past secret where his parents were killed in the murder suicide plot. He returns to work and apologizes to Miles for messing things up. Sawyer even tries to apologize to Charlotte but she denies him. Miles confronts him about his recent trip to Australia when he said he was in Palm Springs. Sawyer confesses what he was up to, tracking down Anthony Cooper, the man responsible for his parents death. While he confesses to Miles, their car is hit in a car chase and they take off after it. Sawyer catches up to the fugitive on foot and it turns out to be Kate.

Wow so I didn't think I would remember all that. Not a very interesting episode.

1. So yes now with only 8 episodes left I am really starting to fear for the series. This was a very uneventful episode and not 1 secret was even confirmed! And to top it all off, they introduced new characters. Great, that's exactly what I wanted.

2. I was a little bit foolish to believe this Zoe person. So does that mean she and Whidmore's team killed the rest of the survivors? Seems a little unnecessary. Couldn't he, like Hurley, have bought out the rest of the flight so they didn't have to land there? Makes me think Whidmore really is the bad guy.

3. Sawyer as a cop I guess was a good twist to his off-island persona. People may have asked why he didn't arrest Kate when he saw her at the airport. Well the answer is my friends as we find out later, that he wasn't in Palm Springs like he said he was and arresting a fugitive would have exposed him. So looks like whatever he did in this life he still has to carry the burden of what happened to his parents. And he's still hell bent on avenging their deaths. Wonder if he'll cross paths with Locke and find out who his father really is! And is Locke's dad truly good as we expected since Locke and him are friends or did he make good on past wrong doings?

4. Claire is starting to become one of my faves just because she is so creepy! Although I'll forever detest her as Tess from Roswell, and the new movie Remember Me. Yeah, I saw it. But her way to just befriend Kate with the creepy hug only to attack her with a knife was pretty intense. And I LOVED how Said didn't move to help. I think that Kate will begin to notice the off behavior and run away to the protective arms of Jack!

5. I honestly didn't see Charlotte coming as his love interest. I saw maybe Juliet, maybe fellow cop Ana Lucia. But I do think there is a parallel between her and Juliet because he brought Charlotte a sunflower to apologize which is something he did for Juliet in Othersville. Ugh. The only thing I think that mattered from all of that interaction was how Miles mentioned she worked with his father, in some sort of sciencey lab. So I wonder if Dr. Pierre Chang is still working with Dharma. Also worthy of noting is that Miles' last name on his desk was Straume, his mother's last name so maybe the same plot happened where they left the island and Dr. Chang stayed but maybe somehow in this life they reunited and are good terms. Or it's a step-father.

6. So its becoming Clear that Whidmore and Jacob = same team and its everyone versus Smokey. So is that what the finale is preparing us for? An all out battle between the two? Snore - I hope they mix it up which usually LOST does and throw in something magical haha.

7. Oh Sawyer, is he really that naive that he thinks this plan will work? Tricking Team Smokey and Team Jacob/Whidmore into fighting each other while he escapes on the sub with Kate? And while we're at it, was THAT really the cliffhanger for this episode? Announcing he's going to escape? Weak LOST, very weak.

8. I loved seeing Charlie's brother Liam at the police station! Looks like poor old Charlie couldn't kick his drug habit! But it appears that Liam was clean ... I doubt we'll get the back story but at least its something!

9. So Sawyer returns to the infamous cages and finds Kate's old dress. How lovely. How many times does Kate have to prove to you that she loves Jack!

10. So before I stated that Jacob and Whidmore are on the same team but there is compelling evidence to make that untrue. I'm pretty sure Jacob via Ben got him kicked off the island in the first place. I think if Jacob wanted him there he could have brought him back. So maybe the man that Sawyer thinks Whidmore wants isn't who he thinks he is. Hahah that's confusing ... but it seemed like Smokey at the end knew that Whidmore wanted him so at this point in the game I don't even know what to speculate.

Alright so it set us up for next week, not exactly dying with anticipation but I'm pumped. Again sorry for the late post!

xo

BBriggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-43619596429778954802010-03-10T09:35:00.009-05:002010-03-10T12:54:57.200-05:00Episode 7 - Dr. LinusNormally I'm bursting at the seams to write about a Ben-centric episode but it fell a little flat for me. Ah well, here's my short short summary.

SUMMARY

Off-Island
Ben is the history teacher at a public school that lacks funds. We find out he truly cares for his students, one in particular Alex Rousseau. He has to cancel his history club meeting because the principal forces him to watch detention. Alex shows up at his home where Ben is taking care of his father and asks to meet early in the morning for tutoring. During their tutoring session Alex lets it slip that she needs a recommendation from someone who went to Yale and the only person she knows is the principal. She doesn't want to ask him since she witnessed him and the school nurse getting it on one time. With encouragement from Locke, Ben decided to enlist Dr. Arzt's help by checking his email correspondence with the nurse. When Ben approaches the principal with the ultimatum to give Ben his job, the principal threatens to destroy Alex's future. Ben backs down and Alex receives a shining recommendation from the principal.

On-Island
Ben rejoins Ilana's group and they head to the beach. She confronts Ben about how Jacob died revealing he was like a father to her and Miles confesses that Ben killed Jacob by listening to his ashes. Once at the beach Ilana takes Ben prisoner and forces him to dig his own grave. Smokey appears and tells Ben that he will help Ben by setting him free and has placed a rifle in the jungle for him to use against Ilana. Ben makes a run for it and when he has Ilana at gunpoint, he explains why he killed Jacob, to protect his power which was the only thing he had after he gave up everything for the island. Ilana tells him that Ben can join her group and Ben follows. Meanwhile Jack and Hurley head back to the temple but find Richard Alpert en route. He tells them he will lead them to the Temple but instead they end up at the Black Rock. Richard tells them he needs to die and Jack follows him inside. Richard explains to Jack that he can't kill himself because Jacob touched him and gave him a gift. He asks Jack to light the end of the fuse and let him blow up but Jack lights the fuse and stays with him. He explains that Jacob brought him here for a reason and that he wouldn't have come this far just to blow himself up. The fuse dies at the end and they both live. They travel back to the beach to find out their destiny and are reunited with the Losties.

Actually writing the recap made me rethink that I actually liked this episode a lot.

1. I think the most interesting thing that happened this whole episode was Ben's conversation with his father in the off-island world. He confirms that they had been to the island and that the Dharma Initiative existed. So this proves that the gang blew up the island with the nuke and the Dharma folk left the island safely. It's funny how Ben's father thinks Ben really could have made something of himself if they stayed on the island but I guess it's a matter of perspective really because technically Ben did make something of himself on the island - he was a leader of all the Others, but in reality it meant nothing whereas in the off-island reality he's actually helping people's lives for the better. Bit of irony I suppose.

2. I loved that we got to see Richard Alpert again! Oh how I missed him! And it was confirmed that he came over on the Black Rock so are we to assume that Smokey did as well or did Smokey just release him from the chains? (Alluding to his statement a few episodes back that Smokey said it was nice to see him out of his chains which could be actual chains for a metaphor for Jacob's chains). So Richard seemed to be annoyed with Jacob's death because after hundreds of years he never found out Jacob's plan for him. Interesting to find out that he too was held back by free will as it seems he has given up his and can only rely on Jack's compassion to kill him, or to rather not kill him.

3. Not only was Jack very handsome in tonight's episode, he started to finally realize his role on the island. Only took ohhh 5 seasons but the lighthouse seems to have made an impression on why he was brought here. I guess he did find his purpose for coming back to the island, even if he isn't 100% sure what it is exactly. And yay he's being redeemed and becoming the leader he's always been since season 1!

4. Was anyone else creeped out by Alex and Dr. Linus' relationship? Never ever ever would I show up at a teacher's house ever, or then gossip like a 7 year old school girl about the principal and the nurse at our private tutoring session. I mean come on lost, I know we suspend reality for the show but couldn't we have thought of a better way to convey their close relationship?

5. So I was pleased at the end when Ben chose the well being of Alex over himself because it sort of redeemed his choice of the island over Alex. And I almost teared up at the end when he was explaining to Ilana how he made the wrong choice and in the end the island left him with nothing. God those big bug eyes can do it to me sometimes!

6. It was so fun to see Dr. Arzt again! And also that they returned to where he got blown up outside the Black Rock, still a great and shocking event in Lost history. He was still as annoying as ever but so eager to commit e-mail fraud once Ben bribed him with a nicer parking spot and lab coats. Seems like even in the off-island world Ben is still manipulative, but this time he has a little heart.

7. So we found out Ilana's role, Jacob and the candidates' bodyguard, but really, did we need all the tears? I don't know, she just annoys me. I was kinda rooting for old Ben to pop up and just shoot her. But I guess she does have more information so let's see what they'll squeeze out of her.

8. So here's one of my problems with the Losties. They show up on this island jungle of mystery and EVERY time they capture an Other or anyone who knows anything about the island they don't ask a million questions. If Ben was looking for answers, it seems like Ilana maybe had them, and if Jack wanted to know more about the origin of the island it seems like he had Richard Alpert right where he wanted him. Come on Losties! Get with it!

9. Did we all see Jack's face when Richard told him that everyone at the Temple was dead?! He was SO thinking about Kate. They are going to rule the island together forever. The end.

10. So when Richard Alpert mentioned that Jacob touched him and gave him a gift, does that mean he gave the same gift to all the Losties we saw him touch? Can Jack, Sawyer, Kate, etc not kill themselves? Could explain why they were able to escape some hairy situations! But I don't think so because they seem to still have their free will in tact, unlike Richard. And it seems like Richard wasn't too please with said "gift" given to him by Jacob, but also if he died and didn't give me any answers I would also be very angry.

I'm actually pumped for next week's episode for the return of Sawyer and who knows, maybe some answers. Also, maybe after 3 years Sun and Jin will be reunited!

Until next week folks :)

xo
BBriggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-83801205905915215642010-03-03T12:47:00.006-05:002010-03-03T16:12:23.390-05:00Episode 6 - SundownSo I didn't care much for this episode. As a result, my summary will be short.

SUMMARY

On-Island
Claire and Smokey stand outside the Temple and Claire decides to enter. She is received by guns and is put in a hole where she can't hurt anyone. Sayid decides to leave the temple after some kung fu fighting with Dogen. Miles tells him that he was dead for 2 hours before he came back to life and that they tried to save him so whoever brought him back to life it wasn't the Others. Sayid decides to leave the Temple but before he goes he speaks to Dogen. Dogen tells him once outside he will encounter someone who he thinks is dead. He asks him to stab him before he speaks. Sayid leaves the temple and runs into Locke/Smokey. He stabs him in the chest and Smokey pulls it out. Smokey convinces him that he is on the wrong side and when he promises him anything in the world, Sayid agrees to deliver Smokey's message. Sayid returns to the temple and tells the camp that Jacob is dead and anyone who wants to live needs to leave the temple and join Smokey. He then proceeds to find Dogen. Dogen tells him that Jacob recruited him to the island in exchange for his son's life. He realizes that Sayid has taken a similar offer from Smokey and Sayid drowns Dogen in the water and kills the John Lennon look-a-like guy after he tells him that Dogen was the only one preventing Smokey from entering the Temple. Chaos ensues and the losties hide with Ilana in the wall. Ben tries to save Sayid and realizes he has become evil. Kate shows up to find Claire in the hole and confesses to her that she took Aaron and came back to find her to reunite them. Claire tells Kate to hide in the hole to avoid the wrath of Smokey. Outside Smokey and his new followers unite.

Off-Island

Sayid appears with flowers to Nadia's house. Nadia is married to Sayid's brother and has two children. There is still an obvious flirtation between Nadia and Sayid. Sayid's brother, Omar, comes to Sayid asking him to help him with some loan sharks. Sayid refuses saying he isn't that man anymore. Omar is mugged outside of his business and Nadia asks Sayid to go home and protect the children. Sayid agrees and when Nadia returns she asks him why Sayid pushed her towards his brother. Sayid tells her its because he didn't deserve her. Sayid is then abducted by a group of men and brought to a kitchen of a restaurant. Inside Keamy is waiting for him and tells Sayid to help his brother pay off his debt. Sayid refuses and kills all of the guards and then shoots Keamy.

Okay so I lied, it ended up being long again. Don't act surprised.

1. Okay I clearly wasn't happy with this episode because I feel like nothing happened that we didn't expect. We knew Sayid was going to turn evil and we knew somehow in his off-island life he would be reunited with Nadia. It was an interesting twist that she ended up with his brother but come one, seriously you aren't together because you don't deserve her? Puh-lease. It's even worse that they're flirting while she's married! But it's tender that he's willing to do anything to bring her back on the island, even if it means annihilating all of the Others at the temple. Somehow his vow to make up for his past deeds really aren't making any sense, but then again he did turn evil.

2. I'm really concerned for Kate with Claire. Why did she tell her about Aaron ... she's totally going to try to kill her. I'm hoping for Jack to have to chose between his sister and Kate and he's totally going to save Kate. This episode lacked Jack, although we did catch a little glimpse of him at the hospital so that was nice.

3. So I know the debate is still there, is Smokey good or evil? This episode favors him to be evil. He basically wiped out the Others without thinking twice. Did he really expect them to abandon Jacob so quickly? Then again, he is promising them the one thing Jacob wouldn't allow, leaving the island. Maybe they got bored of playing with sticks and decided to return to a place where they could shower.

4. So Dogen met his end swiftly - only four episodes. Eh, there have been worse causalities, hello Nikki and Paulo. But we learned he was brought here because it was the only way his son could live. So Jacob manipulated him to come and protect the island with him. He was also the last thing keeping Smokey out of the temple. So somehow he is more than just a man, and me thinks we haven't seen the last of him. I think it's significant that he died in the water, but then again so did Sayid. So will he wake up evil or will Jacob try to save him?

5. Claire was awesomely creepy in this episode. Acting like everything going on around her was normal. Here's my question regarding the darkness inside her. Is it like everyone else's possession and she's truly evil, or is she just being manipulated by Smokey? We never actually saw her die on screen and that seems to be a key factor in this whole being "claimed" theory. Maybe we can save her and re-unite her with Aaron. Seems unlikely.

6. The return of Keamy was awesome! He so got what he deserved but he creeps me out to the core. One thing I will never understand about the mob world since I myself have a severe lack of experience in anything illegal, is that these people always seem to know everything about everyone! How does everyone know Sayid was a torturer in Iraq! Seems to me that governments try to keep these sort of things under wraps - especially from small time money launderers. Sayid must have some reputation!

7. Oh so Jin in the closet! That was a shock! So now I'm assuming that Keamy isn't just a small time money launderer and he works for one of the big guys in this world too. Most likely he works for Whidmore which I was hoping we would see more of his involvement in the off-island world. If he isn't searching for the island as his main goal in life then what is he up to?

8. So Sayid stabbed Smokey and clearly it wasn't going to work since we know Smokey is not human. But how did he survive this attack when Jacob didn't survive Ben's attack? I'm getting frustrated not knowing how these two relate to one another!

9. So now we have to assume that Sayid has been claimed. So if he is no longer Sayid, then will he even want his reward for a job well done? Although it looks like Nadia would have to be resurrected as well and what body will she inhabit? Maybe she will inhabit Shannon's body!!

10. What will happen now that Smokey has his recruits? What is his master plan for getting off the island? Maybe once Jacob carries out his quest to find his new leader, the Others, losties, etc. will start to follow him again and they can take back over Smokey.

At this point I don't even know what to speculate which is a good thing, because if we knew the plot for the last 10 episodes I don't think I would tune in. Haha just kidding! Leave your thoughts!

xo

B
Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-35380029862512616402010-02-24T09:35:00.011-05:002010-02-24T12:18:16.309-05:00Episode 5 - The LighthouseSo I think it goes without saying that I loved this episode, and mostly because hot-damn Jack looked pretty good throughout the entire episode! But we also got to see a little rogue Claire, Hurley and Miles, and the numbers!

SUMMARY

Off-Island 2004
Jack is giving his mother an update on the location of his father's coffin via the phone when he takes a glance at his scar from his appendectomy. He rushes over to school to pick up his son David who clearly is angry with him for being late. They return to Jack's apartment where David only visits once a month. Jack leaves to go to his mother's to help her find his father's missing will. While there he asks about his appendicitis scar and mentions how he doesn't really remember getting his appendix removed at a young age. They talk about Jack's relationship with this his son and he realizes that he has a relationship much like Jack and his father's. She finds the will and begins to read it asking Jack who Claire Littleton is. Jack returns home to find that his son has left. He leaves some worried messages and decides to head over to his mother's house to see if he's there. He enters the house with the hidden key and wanders up to David's room. Once inside he listens to his messages and discovers he's at a school tryout for music. Jack rushes over to the try out and is brought to tears (shocker!) while listening to David play the piano. He then runs into Dogen as they discuss how hard it must be for their sons to handle all the pressure. Jack approaches David outside and they resolve their issues.

Island (2007)
Back at the temple Jack and Dogen discuss how they've been honest with each other and how Jack doesn't think Kate, Sawyer, or Jin will be returning to the Temple. Hurley and Miles are clearly bored with the Temple and wander off to find food. Hurley runs into Jacob in the spring and he tells Hurley he has a mission for him and he needs to bring Jack, oh and write it down on his arm. When Hurley decides to go alone he runs into Dogen and Jacob. Jacob tells Hurley to tell Dogen he is a candidate and can do what he wants. Jacob urges Hurley to convince Jack to come with him so Hurley tells Jack that Jacob thinks he "has what it takes". Jack decides to follow Hurley through the jungle where they run into Kate. The talk briefly and part ways as Kate runs off looking for Claire. Hurley and Jack come across a lighthouse and Hurley says they need to turn it on. Once inside Jack realizes that the mirrors on the dial are a way for Jacob to watch over their lives off the island. There were names written next to each degree with only a few remaining that weren't crossed off. Jack gets angry and demands to talk to Jacob, when Hurley tells him he can't Jack smashes the mirrors and runs out to the cliffs. Jacob appears to Hurley and explains this was his plan all along.
Also on the island, Jin has been taken by Claire. He wakes up in her very Rousseau-esque hut and she fixes Jin's leg. She's also gone back for a prisoner and while she's out, the prisoner tries to convince Jin that she is going to kill them both. Claire returns to question him about the whereabouts of Aaron. Jin informs Claire that Kate took Aaron. Claire decides to kill the prisoner and Jin changes his mind about Aaron, lying to Claire that the Others do have him at the Temple and he will take her there to get him. She agrees saying otherwise she would have had to kill Kate. Her friend returns and we find out that it's Smokey aka Locke.

Wow I didn't think the summary would be that long! So just a fun fact - last night was the 108th episode of LOST!

1. Okay so clearly I love love loved this episode because I got lots of Jack! And boy oh boy did he look amazing in this episode, man looks good in a suit! haha but we got some serious insight on both versions of Jack. In the off-island world he's willing to allow himself to change with his son. He recognizes his faults and that he is becoming more and more like his father, so he decides to change and open up to his son. The island Jack however is still very stubborn, for example smashing the magical mirrors right away without thinking "hey, these are magical, maybe they can help me!". But it seems like Jacob knew that would happen anyway, I mean its not like he needs them anymore since they're all on the island, and is happy with the result that Jack is now thinking about the repercussions of discovering this information.

2. So the producers have confirmed that both realities are in fact real. This means that one is the alternative to the other, they both exist. So I think at this point the two realities have to collide and I think its beginning to happen with the deja-vu like experiences the characters are having. For example; Jack and Kate recognizing each other, Jack having a mysterious cut in the pilot episode while on the plane, and in this episode, Jack not remembering any details about his appendectomy. Each character seems a lot happier in the reality where the plane never crashed; Locke accepts his disability, Jack mends his relationship with his son, Claire decides to keep her baby, etc. I don't think the producers can exactly make us choose one or the other reality since they are so different and we've spent 5 years being invested in the island story so will they somehow have to come together?

3. The way this plot is shaping up reminds me a lot of the Matrix series. There's the obvious deja-vu moments mentioned above which are explained as glitches. There's the search for a leader like Neo = candidate = Jack! And we even have 2 realities. Now it's been a while since I've watched the Matrix series but in the end doesn't everyone die and they restart the Matrix for the last time? So Jacob is apparently searching for his replacement but let's say he does find his replacement in oh say, Jack. So Jack takes over to Jacob, but take over doing exactly what? What would be the point of Jack taking over for Jacob, so they can watch everything happen again? Would this mean that Smokey would stay as Smokey or does someone have to take his place? Again I think the only thing that can explain why the island needs a protector is we need to find out why the island is so important! Without that key factor, why do we even want Jacob to find his replacement? Whats the point of it starting all over again, unless, like the Matrix, its the last time and a winner is finally declared (humans vs. machines in the case of the Matrix and Good vs. Evil presumably in LOST). I'm still trying to work out the details on this theory but its thought provoking to say the least!

3. Rogue Claire is really something. What is with that hair?? ... I have no idea but its safe to say that this episode confirmed that Claire has actually been "claimed". And she's on Smokey's side. So I think it's also safe to say that Claire isn't Smokey, but they're as she put it, friends. So it looks like Smokey has the ability to claim people which my best guess means that they still have remnants of their former lives, but they're in fact some other being or lack of themselves that inhabited their bodies after they died, much like a zombie! Now I don't think John Locke's body has been claimed the way Claire and Sayid are looking to go, I think the Smokey has just transformed into looking like Locke since we have Smokey as Locke and Locke's actual body which was buried. Mostly from this revelation I was hoping we could finally give Smokey a name.

4. Kate almost shot Jack! That would have been a hot mess - and while their interlude was brief I'm sticking by my guns that they love each other. Kate doesn't care that Sawyer went off on his own and she knows that she will come across Jack again in the jungle. Why you may ask? Duh he's going to be looking for Claire and so is she! And Jack will save her because Claire will think Kate has Aaron and try to kill her. Also Claire will bring them together off-island because he will track down Claire who is still friends with Kate and they will also end up together then! Ha I know it's wishful thinking but it's my blog!

5. So Dogen appeared in the off-island side-flash. This has to have some significance but I can't quite tell what yet. He and Jack spoke of the pressures their young children were facing but I can't tell how it relates to their situation on the island other than to further prove that all the people on the island were destined to connect in one life or another. But it seems to be coming clear that Dogen is very much like a Richard Alpert. He follows whatever Jacob says no questions asked. He even appears to have to follow whatever Jacob's candidates say.

6. The lighthouse was really cool. It seems like its sort of like Jacob's cabin in that it can move around which would explain why Jack and the gang have never come across it. The big dial had 360 degrees on it with a name written next to each one. As we saw on the cave wall, the names and numbers corresponded. So is the dial Jacob's way of keeping track and the cave wall Smokey's way of keeping track? It seems like this was Jacob's way of keeping tabs on his candidates off the island. So I want to ask this question, does it mean he was watching them their whole lives and based on their decisions and actions they either became candidates or were crossed off? So if it was their actions that led them to the island, then why did Jacob visit them in their former lives to touch them to direct them to the island? God I have a headache just from trying to write that sentence.

7. The numbers have been appearing a lot lately and giving us a glimpse into what they mean. On the dial 108 was crossed off next to the name "Wallace" so that might be important or it might just mean candidate 108 named Wallace failed. This was the 108th episode and all of the numbers add up to 108 so me thinks he will appear somewhere. But I gotta tell ya, I don't want any new characters! I want some concrete answers and I want them now. Oh random thought, were the other numbers ever in play because if you take into account that before Rousseau showed up, the random transmission of the numbers were calling out to the losties. So maybe this too is just a trick, UNLESS the crossed out #s are from previous lives or something? But I don't think so because if I recall correctly we see some other familiar names crossed out. Just a thought.

8. So again we're seeing the relationship between Jack and his father reexamined over and over. Jack realizes he is the same way to his son as his dad was to him, but he finds a way to change it. Jack's life has been a constant struggle to prove to his father and himself that he has what it takes in life and when he is assured of this by Jacob he is determined to get an answer.

9. The bodies! This is something I've been wanting them to address forever! And it was nice that they didn't forget but I didn't get any answers. So Hurley confirmed my original thought is that they know who they are but with time travel this is where they ended up. Jack also opened up about how he found the caves, via the ghost of his dead father. I think it's safe to assume that Smokey claimed Christian so that begs us to ask the question why was he seemingly helping Jack to find the caves?
10. Free Will - it all comes back to this. Jacob had to lead Jack to the lighthouse so he could realize that he is special. Jacob points out that he couldn't just tell Jack and that some people just do as their told, like Hurley getting on the plane just because Jacob told him to. While all Jack needs to do is discover things on his own and sulk about it on a nearby cliff. So is free will the main difference between the two worlds then? Since the off-island world is arguably a world where they are free from the influences of the island then is that the correct world where their choices would have inevitably led them that way? And if they've been guided to the island in the other reality then wouldn't they not have had free will or was this tied in with their destiny? Think it over!

Okay although I thought the episode lacked in concrete answers we definitely have enough to mull over in terms of theories. But rest assured that I, like you, am getting frustrated for some answers and if I know LOST like I think I do, they will throw us a bone soon!

xo
BBriggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-12823682286995156482010-02-17T09:20:00.011-05:002010-02-24T12:03:51.556-05:00Episode 4 - The SubstituteAhhh Locke-centric episodes are always very informative! We got a new character and new revelations galore! However I am never happy when there is no Jack, damn you Locke for being too stubborn to go see him for your FREE consultation! Oh well, on to the summary ...

SUMMARY

Off-Island (2004)

Locke returns home after the flight to his fiance Helen whom he plans on marrying, with the blessing of her parents and his father, in a few months. Locke tells her about his run in with Jack Shepard and she urges him to call for the free consult. Locke returns to work where he is promptly fired by Randy when he confronts John about not attending the conference in Australia that he was sent there for. He leaves the building and runs into Hurley who tells him to contact a temp agency and that everything will work out. He goes home to Helen to tell her he was fired when his missing luggage is returned and Helen opens it to find his suitcase full of knives. She assures him that she only wants to be with him and it's his choice if he wants to fix his back or not. He goes to the temp agency to work with the head of the office Rose and she shares with him how she has cancer and has learned to accept it and how she got back to her life once she was able to overcome her denial. He then accepts his life and is placed as a substitute teacher in an elementary school where he runs into Ben Linus, the frustrated European History teacher.

Island (2007)

Ilana was getting all teary eyed in Jacob's lair when Ben finds her. She asks Ben what happened and he informs her that MIB-Locke killed Jacob and threw him into the fire as Smokey. She accepts this and tells Ben that MIB-Locke is on a recruiting mission and that he cannot change shape. She takes some of Jacob's ashes before she leaves. MIB-Locke tries to recruit Richard Alpert by telling him he has answers for him but Richard refuses. That's when he sees a young blond boy with blood running down his arms. He continues through the jungle in Smokey form and finds a drunk Sawyer in Othersville. He convinces Sawyer to follow him for answers, and Sawyer, knowing that this isn't the same Locke he's come to know and love agrees to follow him. On their travels Sawyer runs into Richard Alpert while MIB-Locke runs after the young blond child again. Richard tells Sawyer that he is lying to him and to be safe Sawyer needs to follow him to the Temple. Sawyer refuses and follows MIB-Locke to a secret cliff-cave. Inside he removes a white rock from a scale and throws it into the ocean. He leads Sawyer to the back of the cave to show him the names of all his friends written in white chalk, some are crossed out and all are written after a number. MIB-Locke explains that this is why they are all here as he crosses off Sawyer's name, to become Jacob's replacements. He then offers Sawyer 3 choices - 1. do nothing, 2. become Jacob's replacement, or 3. leave with MIB-Smokey. Sawyer chooses to leave the island.

Wowsas! Lots of info so let's get right to it.

1. The numbers finally have some meaning!! Jacob is looking for his replacement and according to MIB-Locke, he's obsessed with numbers. So it looks like it was a process of elimination for Jacob and its looking like our remaining losties that are still in the running are assigned to our favorite equation. In case you missed it, the left over numbers are: 4 - Locke; 8 - Reyes (Hurley); 15 - Ford (Sawyer); 16 - Jarrah (Sayid); 23 - Shephard (Jack); 42 - Kwon (is it Sun or Jin? We don't know!) So this is Jacob's "list" and its been narrowed down. So why is Jack on it when waaaay back a few seasons ago someone said that Jack wasn't on Jacob's list? Is there some sort of significance why Kate wasn't on the list? My big guess would be that who would ever want her to control an island? Although she does have amazing hair ... but I digress.

2. The young blond kid - who is he? When MIB-Locke first sees him he looks stunned and it also seems that Richard Alpert cannot see him. My first guess was this is young Jacob appearing to him and reminding him of something that he had done wrong. Perhaps MIB isn't the only one who can appear to others on the island in a familiar form. That doesn't answer the question of how Sawyer could also see him. But I also love that he doesn't care, haha - he's so used to weird things happening on the island. Also he was drunk. So this little boy was very intriguing - he was scary and dressed like one of Jacob's people. He told the MIB that he knew the rules and he couldn't kill him. Was he referring to Sawyer? So there's rules too for how to recruit someone? And who is this little boy! I'm glad he was the only new character introduced, it's too late in the game for too many more and I really think that this little guy was Jacob.

3. So I feel like the series wants you to believe that Jacob has been defeated and the MIB has won but it still seems like the MIB is still very worried. He is however sticking by his guns that the island isn't special and worth protecting and he just wants off but it just doesn't make sense. Because we all know the island has great powers and Jacob has gone to great lengths to try and protect it. So I'm sticking with Richard Alpert and I think he has an ulterior motive. Ilana mentioned that he is recruiting as well so is he looking to make Sawyer his successor? Is he able to leave whatever prison he thinks he is in if someone else takes his place ... is he pulling the old Genie in a bottle trick with Jafar? I think he knows that Jacob is still around just waiting to get him and he's scrambling to get Sawyer to take his place so he can leave the island.

4. Off-island Locke seems more at peace with himself and has more patience than the old John Locke but he still struggles with the difficulties in his life. It was interesting to hear Helen reference his father, so if they are friends in this life then how was John injured? Seems like it was, as Helen said, destiny for John to be like this. I think the only reason for these drastic differences in these two worlds is Jacob. If he didn't touch them in the off-island world where the island has sunk, then this is how their lives would have played out. But in the world where they came to the island, Jacob touched each individual and altered their path which led them to the island. So this would mean he caused the rift between Locke and his father which led him to the island. Still doesn't answer the question of why he chose these people.

5. Good old Randy made an appearance! And while he is a jerk, he was completely justified in his firing of Locke. But luckily Locke meets up with Hurley who helps him get a job from Rose! She's the same old Rose we've come to know, kind and at peace with what life has dealt her. This resonates with Locke and we see him places in a job as a substitute teacher. I love love love that he has to cross paths with Ben Linus again and it looks like they're going to be friends! Oh Ben, he's so disgruntled in any life he's in.

6. The best part of the entire episode was Locke's funeral. I was just waiting for him to admit that he murdered Locke! And no one could do anything about it! Why does this man not have every Emmy they can give! Also, was it just me or was it weird to see Ben in a t-shirt doing hard labor?

7. Who is this Ilana woman and why does she know so much? She seemed to think that Jacob was truly gone but could she just have been weeping for her friends that came with her? I don't think so. Nonetheless she takes some of Jacobs ashes in that handy little pouch she has. What is it with these ashes? They protect everyone from Smokey and they also can be used to test people to see if they've been claimed? Is all the ash bodies of dead Jacob's past? We all saw him get stabbed and thrown into fire, and dead is dead, but I wouldn't exactly call Jacob human, so like I said, he's gotta be coming back. If he hasn't already in bloody kid form.

8. Richard Alpert looked truly terrified of the MIB. For one moment during Locke's speech to him I almost followed him but Richard is sticking to his guns. He is 100% convinced that this man is bad and that the Temple is the only safe place. Here's my confusion with this "Temple". When the French people were there didn't they get pulled under the temple by Smokey? So if this place is protected from the MIB then how did Smokey get so close?

9. Free Will seems to be the theme throughout this series. Everyone is getting choices. It truly has to be that these people were brought here to choose their destiny, which I realize is a contradiction but also has some truth to it. Will they live forever to protect the island by giving up their free will which makes them human (as it seems Jacob and MIB have) or will they continue to live their own lives devoid of the island? Looks like Sawyer chose to peace out so MIB scratched his name off the list. If I was on the island I would choose to live forever with Jack. He's dreamy, can you really blame me?

10. An awesome scene from this episode was where we saw the island from Smokey's point of view! It was like a rollercoaster! And at the end of the ride MIB-Locke appeared! So it is confirmed at this point that the MIB is Smokey, even though we already knew that! It reminded me of when Mr. Eko was killed and I realized, hey, he was killed by Smokey. So why could Smokey kill him, Keamy, etc. and not touch Sawyer? Maybe once they're crossed off Jacobs list are they game for Smokey? Watch out Kate!!

Okay so lots to think about, post your theories and tell me what you think of mine!

xo

B

Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-17691172413144679462010-02-10T11:13:00.010-05:002010-02-24T12:04:12.661-05:00Episode 3 - What Kate DoesPhew what an episode! I'm loving these Flash Sideways ... oh how the losties are still the same no matter what time dimension they're in! On to the summary!

ISLAND
Sayid is alive! Jack wants to know what is going on but the Others want to talk to Sayid first. Their talk includes torturing Sayid by electrocution, ash, and hot pokers. They tell him he passes the test when actually, he doesn't. Sawyer jumps at the opportunity to escape and tells Kate not to follow him. She of course doesn't listen and tells Dogen that she can bring him back. She takes off with the help of Jin and two Others. Kate ditches her crew and tracks Sawyer to Othersville where he's getting weepy over his loss of Juliet. He confesses to Kate that he was going to propose and Kate reveals that she came back to find Claire and reunite her with Aaron. Meanwhile back at the Temple Jack has a conversation with Dogen in which he tries to get Jack to give Sayid a pill. When Dogen won't tell Jack what is in the pill he asks Jack to trust him. Jack goes to Sayid with this information and Sayid says he will do what Jack says. Jack calls Dogen's bluff and takes the pill himself and it turns out the pill was actually poison. Jack is rescued with a swift Heimlich maneuver and it is revealed that Sayid was unable to be saved and has been claimed, just like Jack's sister Claire. We finally see Claire at the end of the episode looking very disheveled and Rousseau-like when she shoots the Others that were accompanying Jin while he was on his way to find Sun.

OFF-ISLAND
Back in the other reality where the plane didn't crash we see Kate jumping into the cab and almost running over Dr. Arzt and making "hey don't I know you?" eye contact with Jack. She takes off after the driver abandons the vehicle and Claire is still pregnant and manages to escape any sort of police trail whatsoever. She leaves Claire stranded on the side of the road and finds someone to help her remove the handcuffs and get cleaned up. Upon discovering that Claire's bag contents were for her baby she returns to where she left Claire and offers her a ride to the soon-to-be adoptive parents of her baby that just happened to mix up the dates. Once they arrive at the house we learn that the parents are separated and can no longer provide for the baby. Claire begins to have contractions and Kate takes her to the hospital. Once there, Dr. Ethan Goodspeed gives Claire the option of having the baby now or receiving injections to delay the birth. Once the pains subside, Claire covers for Kate when police finally start poking around and Kate thanks her and suggests that she keep baby Aaron. Claire inquires why Kate is running and Kate asks her if she would believe that she was innocent because she's being wrongfully accused of murder.

I liked this episode and not only because Kate's hair just happened to be perfect, but it was an awesome play on S2's episode of "What Kate Did" which just so happened to be the big smooch between her and Jack! Okay on to the analysis!

1. So I think it's safe to say that both "realities" exist and it doesn't have to be one or the other because it doesn't look like this flash sideways thing is going away. I understand how the off-island reality can exist because if Jack did detonate the bomb then perhaps these things would truly have happened. What I'm not sure of is how they're all still existing on the island because if the bomb did go off then how are they still there? Unless the bomb went off and the mystical powers of this magnetic force somehow caused some sort of implosion and preventing the need for the button to be pushed. Oh wow, look at that, I sort of answered my own question!

2. Ahh So that's what the sickness is! You're body gets "claimed". How about NO Lost! How about you just tell us what it is because we knew this already. But I will thank you for confirming that Claire indeed has been claimed. And no apparently she's turned into Rousseau. So are we to believe that the Man in Black is "claiming" everyone? Can he claim more than one person at a time? This would explain that he's claimed Claire, Christian, Locke, and now Sayid but maybe he can't because he had to leave the room to become Smokey. And if he had claimed Claire then why is she apparently going rogue right now just like Rousseau? Also when the Frenchmen were claimed they disappeared under the tunnel and when they came out they were fully claimed. Why did it take so long for Sayid and in fact he still isn't claimed as far as we can tell. We have to wait for the darkness to take over. It's an interesting thing for sure!

3. So I've been thinking about this theory for a while, truth be told every since Ben tried to convince us that he was the good guy - but what if who we think is good - Jacob - actually is bad and the Man in Black is actually good? Bam! That could be a game changer indeed.

4. The hair in this episode I think is worthy of it's own talking point. Kate's looked beautiful, I mean it's only what I hope to achieve one day and Claire's? I mean come on - that was a straight up wig. But island Kate's hair could use a little work if I'm being honest. There's got to be some sort of brush on that island considering two plane crashes (or one now in this reality) and a group of Dharma and Others folk have lived there. Arguably this might be the biggest mystery of all!

5. So in the off island reality we're seeing a lot of similar scenes and characters being drawn together. The fact that Kate was there for the first birth on island and will be there to help Claire again off the island is significant. It shows that they're both connected to Claire's child. And then another good surprise was Ethan! He's still a doctor and still the love Child of Horace and Amy. He still happens to be extremely creepy even as a good doctor. Okay I'm going to call out a little Grey's Anatomy (aka the worst show on air today) and say that I'm pretty sure you can't give the mother the choice of whether or not she wants to baby to come now or if she wants to just have some needles stuck in her to delay the birth. I'm no doctor so I could be wrong but come on!

6. When the door opened for Aaron's possible adoptive parents I was totally expecting to see a familiar face! It would have been exciting to see another lostie or an Other, hell I would have been cool with Juliet! On the contrary an appearance I was excited to see was Mac from Sunny in Philadelphia aka Aldo. Although he was playing a super annoying character he seemed like he had some valuable information to share! Too bad rogue Claire shot him.

7. Jack - so I'm hoping this is the last episode where Jack is feeling down on his luck because he just seems so sad and beaten down. He doesn't trust himself and he recognizes, with Dogen's help, that he's hurt people in the past who have trusted him. But I still believe that Jack has always wanted to best for everyone and he'll find his way back again. Plus, bonus points to him for taking the poison pill and calling the Other's bluff. Plus extra bonus points for the tender look he gave Kate before she left for Sawyer. They love each other - and this is confirmed when she recognizes him somehow in the off island reality.

8. I can't wait for Jin to find Sun! What a tender reunion that will be! But I'm curious about when Sun went to Othersville after her plane crash and she ran into Christian who said she would have to wait. Did he know that it would only be a matter of time until Jin returned? So did Sun have to do anything besides wait? Assuming that Christian is claimed by the Man in Black this could point to the theory that the Man in Black is actually good because he was trying to help reunite Jin and Sun. I just can't say for sure!

9. How did Dogen get to the island? He said that Jack knows how he got there ... I'm going to assume that the Black Rock ship is what brought all the originals over ... like Richard Alpert and now apparently Dogen.

10. So I love Lost because they know me so well. They know I love time travel, science fiction, hot people running around a jungle, Juliet dying, and now zombies! It's been confirmed over and over on this show that dead is dead, yet we have an abundance of dead people coming back to haunt us - much like zombies! Not the gory, arms falling off kind of zombies, but soul-less, darkness inside kind of zombies and it brings a whole new edge of awesomeness and creepiness to the show!

So that's it kids - post your thoughts and theories and thanks to all those who commented last week!Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-30244254826464913092010-02-03T09:18:00.019-05:002010-02-24T12:04:33.072-05:00Episode 1 & 2 - LA XSo, we've got one of the last 17 episodes of LOST under our belts and it was everything I expected and more! I knew we were going to have the split time line now referred to as the "Flash Sideways" and I knew they would still be asking more questions rather than giving us the answers we so crave. Looks like we'll have a new season mystery with the temple and our missing Others and one can only hope that all our answers will come at the end!

SUMMARY (its sorta long, sorry but it was 2 hours!)

ISLAND - Jack & the Gang

The gang realizes that the bomb didn't work and they're still on the island. Kate finds herself in a tree unable to hear and discovers Jack, Sawyer, and the rest of the gang down on the ground in present time post hatch explosion. They come to and Sawyer realizes Juliet is dead and takes it out on Jack swearing that it's his fault Juliet is dead. Soon after Kate hears a cry for help coming from inside the blown-up hatch hole and they work frantically to get Juliet out. Once Sawyer gets inside, we are treated to another scene of Juliet dying before she is able to tell Sawyer what she wants to. The others rush back to the aid of Sayid who is dying from a gunshot wound in the van and Jack surmises that he can't do anything for him. Hurley speaks up saying Jacob came to visit him and told him they could take him to the Temple to save him. Sawyer and Miles stay behind to bury Juliet and Miles' uses his ability to talk to the dead to tell Sawyer that the last thing Juliet wanted to tell Sawyer was that "it worked". The rest of the gang makes it to the Temple with Jin's guidance and they enter through the hole that goes underneath. Once below the temple gate they are taken hostage by the Others residing there. The apparent Temple leader comes out to address their sudden appearance and orders them to be killed. Hurley pleads at the last moment that Jacob sent them and he gives them the guitar case with the Egyptian symbol for life. The Kung-Fu man breaks it open to reveal a hidden list and once he confirms each lostie is on it they are welcomed into the temple. Hurley reveals that Jacob was dead when he came to him and panic mode sets in among the Others. They prepare for battle outside while Sayid is taken inside to the spring. They notice the color of the spring has changed and the Kung-Fu man cuts himself to see if the water will heal it. When it doesn't, the gang makes the decision for the Others to try and save Sayid by dipping him in the spring for the length of the hourglass. He shakes and struggles but ultimately the Others pronounce him dead. In a near identical Jack-saves-Charlie-after-Ethan-hangs-him-in-a-tree scene, Jack gives up trying to save him. According the the Others, they're all in a lot of trouble now that Sayid is dead but lo and behold, Sayid wakes up in the end!

ISLAND - Locke & the Gang

After Ben kills Jacob he begins to doubt that Locke is Locke they are interrupted by Ilana's gang and Flocke (Fake-Locke) escapes their attack. He returns as Smokey and kills them all. Bram tries to use the circle of ash as protection but he is derailed and killed. Ben is amazed and realizes that he may have made the wrong decision in killing Jacob since this guy was obviously not Locke. Flocke is actually the Man in Black and he lets Ben know that the last thing Locke was thinking before Ben killed him was that he still didn't understand why all of this happened. The stumble out of the foot to find Richard Alpert and Richard urges everyone not to shoot him. Flocke tells Richard that its good to see him out of his chains and beats him up.

Oceanic Flight 815

It seems as if their plan has worked and the losties are now back to being passengers on Oceanic 815. Jack makes small talk with Rose while Bernard is in the bathroom and while he gets nervous with the turbulence everything turns out fine. Boone chats it up with Locke, Hurley tells Doc Arzt and Sawyer about winning millions in the lottery, and Charlie gets high in the bathroom. Jack ends up aiding Charlie when he tries to swallow his drugs and he is arrested right after the plane lands at LAX. Kate tries to escape her bounty hunter Edward and successfully does with the help of Sawyer and Claire's cab. Jin is taken in by authorities since he failed to declare the over $10,000 in cash he was carrying and Jack comes across Locke when he's at the Oceanic Customer Service desk where they inform him they lost his father's coffin in transit. Jack offers Locke a free consultation with his spinal injury. It turns out that in this reality they were all still connected.

Wow so That was long. And I'm sure most of you skipped it as you should if you watched last night!

1. Well well, I was right with my prediction of two alternate time lines. It was the only way to make everyone happy - if the bomb hadn't gone off, then they would just be in the same place as before which would have been boring but if it did go off and they were successful then what would be the point for us watching all 5 seasons if nothing happened! Solution - alternate realities. Both situations happened and now we get to watch how they will both play out. I think ultimately one will be chosen and I choose the land where Jack and Kate fall in love.

2. Speaking of Jack and Kate in love, I hope we all noticed how she ran to Jack when she fell out of the tree and how she's always backing him up, and how they had a nice flirty glance at the end there. Yeah, I have to read this much into these things.

3. Thank you Lost for always knowing what I need. Another scene of Juliet dying! Woohoo! Now, I realize she is a good actress, brings an interesting element to the show, etc. so I do appreciate her but let me tell you why they brought her back. To let us know that the plan worked. That's it. Everyone quickly forgets how evil she was back when she was an Other! Good ridance!

4. So we've finally found out that Smokey is the Man in Black who is Fake Locke. So I think it is safe to assume that the Man in Black has been every other dead person who has appeared on the island, from Christian to Alex to Mr. Eko's brother Yumi and it seems like he has weaved this intricate plan to get possession of Locke's body and convince Ben to kill Jacob. Its apparent that neither can mess with free will but it seemed much more like manipulation rather than Ben using his free will but alas that is how he triumphed over Jacob. Ben even noticed that Jacob didn't even put up a fight and I think it has to be that Jacob knew this would happen some day. It even seems that post Jacob's death he still has a plan. Maybe he had cultivated a plan in case this happened and that explains why he went to visit the losties, to bring them to the island to end his conflict. Like he said in the beginning of the season 5 finale "It only ends once".

5. Destiny - so even if they incident never happened it seemed like the survivors were destined to cross paths. Jack still intervened to save an ungrateful Charlie and to suggest to Locke that "nothings irreversible" by offering to look at his spine. One of Jack's motives for resetting time was to avoid all the misery the island has brought them but like the theme through most of the series and to Ben's insistence, the island was supposed to be a gift to those people. So we'll see if in the reality where they never come to the island the losties are in fact happy or not. Boone never gets it on with Shannon since she stayed in Australia and they never repaired their relationship, Jin and Sun are still in a strained marriage, Rose still has cancer, Kate is still a fugitive on the run, and Jack still cries a lot. I think we'll continue to see them all be pulled together in unexplained circumstances and eventually they will all begin to have memories or a deja-vu like feeling for their life that should have happened on the island. These feelings will pull them all together to do whatever their destiny (Jacob?) tells them to do.

6. Desmond! So he was on the plane for an instant and never to be seen again. Was he having another time flash? I don't know, he seemed too calm. He somehow seems to make Jack remember something he shouldn't have, although we're led to believe that they met in LA right before Desmond took off for his boat tour ... but would he have if the island is underwater therefore there wouldn't be an island for him to crash on? Would he have even broken up with Penny therefore causing him to go on the boat tour? Would he have even met Penny if he hadn't been thrown out of the military for the weird flashes he was having? Who knows! I just think he'll stay a very important factor in the show and maybe pops up to help the losties remember their life that never was!

7. So what is up with the new Others at the temple? One looks straight out of a Kung-Fu movie which I'm guessing relates to Confucius and other ancient religious thought and the other looks like John Lennon and maybe resembles love and peace? I don't know but honestly LOST, did we really need more characters? How about bring me back some more Boone, hell he can turn into a vampire for all I care I just want more! Actually I think I like Vampire Boone more than regular Boone but I digress ... so these two seem to be Jacob's servants and fear what will happen if they don't carry out Jacob's command to save the all important Sayid. They fail, or do they??? ... Sayid opens his eyes and we're to assume he's alive. Unless he's Jacob re-incarnated (which I don't think so) or worse possessed by Smokey or just regular old back from the dead Sayid.

8. Richard Alpert - I love you. What an interesting character! I can't wait to find out more, like why the Man in Black remembers him from being in chains! When was he his prisoner, on the Black Rock? So has the Man in Black tried this plan before? Whatever the case may be, Richard looked pretty scared of this guy, so its safe to assume some sort of hellish power has been released and he fears for the island and Jacob. Here's to hoping with this revelation we get more background on my favorite eye-liner wearing guy!

9. Okay LOST, you make a ton of money, have access to the best special effects in the biz, and we have to sit through those silly graphics of the island submerged under water? For a hot second I thought we'd see the island hidden underwater in a big bubble but alas, just cheesetastic graphics with a little easter egg on the shark's tail. That has to mean that the bomb went off and sunk the island.

10. The Man in Black aka Flocke's desire is to return to his home. Woah! So the island is not his home? Is his home heaven? Or hell? Or some OTHER alternate reality? Why can't he get back? Maybe he and Richard were both prisoners on the Black Rock? Truth - i have no idea so we'll just have to wait and see where home is ...

Okay yay! I'm so happy the final season has started and we're about to get lots and lots of answers. Don't forget to add your own theories in the comments and any thoughts on what I have to say!

xo

B
Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-89469513785483531062009-05-14T12:14:00.015-04:002009-05-14T15:50:26.633-04:00Episode 16 - The Incident Part 1 & 2Oh. My. God. Where to even begin ... I'm scared to attempt my summary but to try and get things in perspective I must power through it for you! I both loved and hated (well now hate is too strong a word) this episode but it all makes perfect sense for the culmination of the last season. It both shocked me and answered some major questions ... but in true LOST fashion, it also asked many, many more.

SUMMARY

FLASHBACKS

Jacob and our mystery man (MM) are waiting for the Black Rock to crash ashore lostie island. MM tells Jacob he will find a loophole to kill him and that he thinks Jacob has summoned the boat ashore only to be proved wrong about humanity and that they will destroy themselves with greed and corruption. Jacob then pays a visit to Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Sayid, Sun, Jin, Jack and Locke. He appears to them all at integral times in their lives which have come to shape their characters. He also pays a visit to Ilana while she is holed up in a hospital recovering from severe burns. We also see a flashback of Juliet however Jacob never appears to her. We are led to believe that Jacob has been recruiting this group since their adolescence.

2007

Locke, Richard Alpert, Ben, and the others trek across the island in pursuit of Jacob. Locke informs Ben that he, not Locke himself, will kill Jacob. They journey to the four toed statue led there by Richard Alpert who still can't believe Locke is alive. He isn't happy when Locke tells him that he and Ben will be entering the statue alone. Once inside they confront Jacob. Jacob realizes that MM found his loophole and Ben tears up while he asks Jacob why he never appeared to him and admits to Locke that he made it all up. Ben then stabs Jacob and Locke kicks him into the fire. Meanwhile, Ilana, Bram, and company are dragging a large crate across the island with Lupidus in tow. They approach Jacobs cabin to find the ash has been breached. Ilana enters the house to find it has been abandoned for a while and orders it to be burned. They then set off for the four toed statue. Once there they encounter Richard Alpert and the others and reveal to them what is in the box - the corpse of the real John Locke from the plane.

1977
Kate, Sawyer, and Juliet commandeer the sub to let them off and return to the island. Once there they find Rose and Bernard living peacefully in the jungle. They head off to find Jack, and Sawyer takes five minutes to try and convince Jack to not detonate the bomb. They end up fighting and Juliet stops them just as Sawyer is about to hurt Jack. She tells Sawyer that Jack must complete his task. Jack and Sayid have already taken the core from the atomic bomb and smuggled it out from under Dharma amidst heavy gunfire, Sayid taking a bullet to the gut in the crossfire. They were saved by Hurley, Miles, and Jin in the van. Once the gang got past Sawyer, they headed to the future sight of the Swan where Pierre Change was trying to convince Radzinksy to stop the drilling. Another round of gunfire ensues when the gang tries to get the bomb into the well. Jack is successful in putting the bomb down the well but nothing happens. The incident begins and a magnetic force begins to drag everything into the well. Juliet is caught up in chains and dragged into the hole while she and Sawyer declare their love. The rest begin to evacuate when we see that Juliet is still alive in the hole and she takes a rock to smash the bomb and the episode fades into white.

Wow. That was a tough summary but I think I got all the important parts. Now on to my theories and thoughts for the last time this year, tear.

1. So I guess I'll start with the obvious - the ending. Juliet detonated the bomb and it faded to bla... err white. So this means we have a few options as to how they're going to begin season 6. Either the bomb worked, in the sense that it blew up the island and therefore altered history making it so flight 815 lands fine at LAX and everyone goes their own way OR the atomic bomb blew up and it is like the last time Desmond pushed the fail safe key and they begin to time travel again. I think that Jack succeeded in his plan and we'll see how their lives will intersect after the safe landing of flight 815. Maybe they will get a glimpse of both lives and get to decide which one they want to live? Otherwise whats the point of us watching them go through five tumultuous seasons only for it to never have happened? I can't imagine a world where Jack and Kate don't get to be together!

2. Jack's motives for this whole thing were a little weak. And that means a lot coming from me since I'm such a huge Kate and Jack supporter! His whole reason to restart his life is because he had Kate and he lost her? It made more sense when he was saying he wanted to avoid all the misery and bring back the ones they lost. So now I guess the question we need to ask is did Jack do the right thing? Are we going to side with him or not? I think yes, and not only because I have a deep love for him, but because he's the shows main character! He held everyone together for season after season and I don't think the writers/producers want all of that to go to waste!

3. Now, some of you won't agree with me, but when Juliet got shackled by the chains and dragged down that hole, I did a happy dance. Like I actually got off the couch and jumped up and down. I love LOST in that while I don't think she is completely gone, they threw me a bone. After all my years of hating her, I got to see her alone, in a hole, dying, and that's all I ever wanted. Oh how quickly we forget how she manipulated and tortured everyone only to be rewarding by falling in love with two extremely good looking men. But i guess the jokes on her when she realized they both loved Kate!

4. Poor Ben, I felt so bad when he was all upset over the fact that Jacob never liked him. It would have been nice to hear Jacob's explanation because seriously, why didn't Jacob ever appear to him? Oh I don't know, it could have been how he murdered all of Dharma and took control over the island without permission?

5. Jacob vs. the Mystery Man (MM) - So it was def a shocker to meet the much anticipated Jacob after all these years. Are we to assume he is some sort of God and he used the island as his experiment with humanity? The MM is clearly his antithesis and there are certain rules in place between them. Perhaps this is the war Whidmore was eluding to? So now we not only have to guess who is on what side, we also need to guess who's side is who - Jacob or the MM. So our MM has been trying to kill Jacob since before the Black Rock got to the island, and he's been looking for a loophole. So was the loophole just getting someone else to do it? Because honestly he could have appealed to any number of the criminals on that island so why wait so long for Ben to come along and kill him? Seems like a lot of effort, but then again, I suspect that there is an ulterior motive or rule to incorporate Ben like that.

6. Locke - so I guess I should have guessed this one ever since the "Dead is Dead" episode but I was shocked to see Locke fall out of the crate. So all this time the true Locke has been dead and our MM has been wearing his skin in disguise. Does that mean MM was Christian as he appeared to our losties? Or Walt to Shannon? Also I think its important to note that when Jacob went to visit Locke off the island he brought him back to life after his fall ... so this begs the question if that is even the real Locke. Because if dead is dead then that can't be the true Locke, hence why he is then ready to lead the island? It's almost too much to think about.

7. Who is Ilana and her henchmen? Why is she so important all of a sudden? She and Jacob are friends off the island? So here goes my best to who is on who's side. Jacob and Ilana are on one side. Whidmore is against Ilana's efforts so he must be on the MM's side. Ben is against Whidmore so he must be on Jacob's side but Ben killed Jacob. The freighters are Whidmore's people so they must be against Jacob. The Losties are just stuck in the middle. So will the war be the focus in season six and the losties who've never been to the island get recruited back into the war somehow? Or are they still on the island, Jack's plan having failed, and trying to find Jacob and figure out just what the heck is going on?

8. I thought the flashbacks of Jacob visiting each lostie in their past were a little hokey. So he went to visit them at a stage in their lives that defines who they are ... Kate was stealing, Jack was doubting himself and his father, Sayid lost Nadia, Sawyer was writing his revenge letter, Sun and Jin were at their wedding, Hurley convincing himself he was crazy, Locke falling out the window, and Juliet ... oh hold up, she was never visited by Jacob. Now that has to mean something ... perhaps its why she was sucked down the hole? She isn't protected by Jacob? Was she never on one of Jacob's "lists"? Maybe the flashbacks will be significant when the losties meet the actual Jacob, if that ever happens. And they will recognize him? Also - why are these people so special? Kate is just a thief and Jack just has daddy issues?

9. Jacob's cabin - So he has since vacated last we saw him there, or was that never even the real Jacob? It was once his dwelling but Ilana informed us he hasn't been there in a long time. So why did Ilana have to ask everyone "What lies in the shadow of the statue?" if she knew Jacob was there and wasted everyone's time by going to the cabin? Richard Alpert knew the answer (as I translate from Latin :) "he who will protect us". Well I'm glad they burned the cabin because it scared the hell out of me. And I loved how Ben admitted that he made up the interaction with Jacob all along and was just as scared as we were when stuff began to go crazy.

10. 2010 .... 2010!!! How can I possibly wait that long for season 6? How will any of you get through your Thursday without my email updates? haha just kidding. The cliffhanger they left us with is one we can ponder until January I suppose ... what will season 6 be like? Well looks like we'll just have to wait :)

Well this is the last post for 2009! Thanks so much for reading along, hope I was able to keep things clear all season and offer up some good thoughts for discussion! And let me know if you want to stay on, get off, add more people, whatever you want! Thanks to all of those who've contributed with their own theories and have a great summer!

xo
Bridget

Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-43058318380392578472009-05-07T10:30:00.012-04:002009-05-07T12:22:39.702-04:00Episode 15 - Follow the LeaderAlright well like every other LOST episode that's aired before the finale, it was just a nice set-up for what's to come. After having spent years of not knowing and following an unseen ruler, he decides to force Richard Alpert to take him to Jacob. He convinces the others to follow so they too can question their leader. Locke then shares with Ben that he plans to kill Jacob. Ben and Richard Alpert converse about their uncertainties of Locke's leadership. Jack, Ellie, and Sayid continue on to find the Jughead bomb which is located under Dharmaville. Kate meanwhile goes back to find that Sawyer and Juliet are on the sub after having given into Radzinsky and Horace and told them where to find the Others. Jin, Hurley, and Miles run into Dr. Candle and he realizes that Farraday was telling the truth and that Miles is his son from the future. He begins to call for an evacuation of the island and Miles witnesses his father telling his mother to leave. We also see a young Charlotte boarding the sub.

Oh boy, on to the top 10!

1. Kate really? You're going to abandon Jack like that? My heart did break a little when she said all the times weren't miserable, and Jack couldn't agree. Who can blame him? He lost everyone, and Kate broke his heart like a million times. But who can blame Kate, if time is erased and she lands in LA safely on flight 815, she'll be looking at twenty to life! But scenes from the next seem to have Jack and Kate working together again and dare I say it, realizing they really do love each other?

2. I am a little bit angry with the meager amount of Richard Alpert history they gave us. All we've learned is that A. he is not the man in charge (which we knew) B. he's an adviser and has been for many years and C. he still likes to wear eyeliner. The question is now, will he and Ben scheme to take over Locke's new regime? Although I do have to point out his hobby of building ships in a bottle - does this point to his origins which I predicted will be the Black Rock? I think we've also seen a painting of a ship in a bottle in a previous episode ...

3. So, just as I predicted, the return of Jack is on! He's going to be "erasing history" much like he had done back in the classroom his first day with Dharma. Pros to his theory - he can save all the people they've lost thus far and get rid of all the misery they've endured over the years. Cons - No one will ever remember what occurred on the island and likely they will go on living their lives without the relationships and experiences they've had. So will he do it? I think yes - makes for an interesting season six! But I don't know how I feel about my losties not knowing each other? Will Charlie still be addicted to Heroin? Will Boone and Shannon (yeah remember them?) continue to terrorize each other's lives? Will Jack still cry about his daddy issues?

4. How the heck does Locke know all of this stuff and is he really alive? Well clearly he's in between life and death, I think the same way Christian is. Was he recruited by Jacob to lead the Others while Ben was a temporary but didn't predict that he would turn on him? Has Locke in fact turned on Jacob or is he not being truthful about wanting to kill him? It could go a number of ways ... he could just be telling this to Ben to provoke a reaction out of him. I mean, if I was planning on killing a powerful, mythical being, I probably wouldn't tell too many people about it beforehand, especially if I thought they might try and stop me. So me thinks that good old Locke has something else up his sleeve.

5. Juliet had a look of pure hatred on her face when Kate showed up. I mean, I don't blame her. How else could that evil lady score such a hot babe like Sawyer if Kate was wandering around? All her hopes for the future with Sawyer were dashed when Kate came on board. I love the devoted Sawyer, and I think he'll stay devoted to Juliet so that Kate and Jack will get together! woohoo! And I totally would do the same thing, stay in the past and buy lots of Microsoft stocks ... maybe even write Twilight or Harry Potter before they do!

6. Oh my god. How cheesy were those submarine graphics? Really LOST? You couldn't have done any better?

7. One mystery I've been DYING to know the answer to since season 1 is who is the man and woman in the caves. Some have speculated Jack and Kate, Rose and Bernard but maybe its Sawyer and Juliet? Since we've learned from Richard Alpert that he watched all of Sun's friends die, it could be anyone! Hell maybe it's Sun and Jin! Can you tell ethnicity from bones? Anyone?

8. So if the bomb is located under Dharmaville, how does the incident not blow it up? A better question might be what is the incident? Because if they detonate the bomb they will lose the entire island thus erasing the history they know. If it doesn't blow up and the island is saved, we still need an "incident" to occur so Desmond has a reason to come to the island and push the button. So we have two options - the future as we've already seen it (aka the incident) or the bomb detonating and the island disappearing thus erasing history and the plane landing in LA as planned.

9. So Phil surprised me when he slapped Juliet, but then of course since I hate her I didn't mind. What is up with him and Radzinsky? For being in such a peaceful organization they sure do like to jump to conclusions and beat the hell out of people. But then again if I had gotten knocked out and tied up in a closet I'd be mad enough to smack Juliet. So go Phil!

10. So Dan's notebook seems to have the key to it all. But if Ellie had known that she shoots and kills her own sun and then knew he had to have a notebook, wouldn't Ellie from the future have written herself a note so she could change things as it seems like she wants to do? She wants to help Jack carry out Daniel's wishes ... but didn't this all already happen? How will she and Jack change the future if everything so far has already happened? I guess we just have to wait and see which Farraday theory was correct - can you or can't you change the future? Looks like we'll find out next week!

Okay so I can't believe how fast this season has gone by! I don't know what I'm going to do every Thursday morning ... maybe work? :) Post your theories since it'll be the last time before the finale! Thanks for last week's posts - I loved your thoughts!

xo
Bridget
Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-15999492124678568352009-04-30T12:05:00.012-04:002009-04-30T14:51:27.360-04:00Episode 14 - The VariableWow! Amazing episode! And I haven't started a post like that in a while. The 100th episode will go down as one of the best ... I thought I knew it all and they threw this game changer at us! He tells him he's from the future and that he needs to order an immediate evacuation of the island or else in six hours an electromagnetic incident will occur and wipe everyone out. To prove his point he tells him that Miles is his son. He then went to Jack and the gang to tell them they weren't supposed to come back and that they are the variables that have the potential to change the future and prevent the incident. He recruits Kate to tell him where he can find the hostiles because his mother is one of them. With Juliet's help, Kate and Jack leave with Daniel amidst a Dharma vs. Oceanic 6 shootout. They escape to the Others and Dan approaches the camp. He is then shot by his mother Ellie and comes to the realization that she knew about his impending death all along.

OFF THE ISLAND
A young Daniel is told he is special by his mother and she's there to guide him along his path. He attends Oxford graduating the youngest physicist with a grant to study his research from Mr. Whidmore. He and his mother attend a graduation dinner without his girlfriend Theresa and she gives him a journal. A few years later Daniel is with a stay at home nurse because he has lost his memory from testing his experiments on himself. He is watching coverage of the 815 rescue and crying when Whidmore comes to visit. He tells him that the people on the island are alive and that he created the fake plane to protect them. He then asks Farraday to go to the island so he can study it. Daniel refuses until his mother approaches him and tells him he has to take the offer. Further into the future we see Desmond and Penny in the hospital. Penny is approached by Eloise and she asks how Desmond is doing. She apologizes claiming it is her son Daniel's fault and she honestly doesn't know if Desmond will be okay. Penny goes in to visit Desmond on the recovery room and he is fine. Eloise and Whidmore talk and we find out that Whidmore is actually Farraday's father.

Woohoo on to my thoughts!

1. So, are you telling me that there is a possibility that the incident might not happen causing no need for Dharma to create the hatch to monitor the electromagnetic build up which Desmond will come to the island to push every 108 minutes until one time he fails to push it on time and thus crashes the Oceanic flight 815 and chaos ensuing as we know it? Ha so basically I LOVE this idea. I love that their entire destiny was to change their future and I think there is no other option now than for the Oceanic 6 to prevent the incident from happening thus making season 6 totally different. So the plane lands find in LA and then what? Do we have to watch the characters somehow miraculously find each other again? Will Jack and Kate have a chance now? I don't even know how that storyline would play out but I am pumped to see!

2. Commercials - I hope no one DVRed through the commercials last night because they placed little clues in them! And thanks to my abc insider, she informed me that a commercial for last night cost more than the finale! Well our first clue was the title board turning into stars for a nice little Star Trek preview (which btw and I'm sure no one is surprised I am super pumped to see that!). Which leads me to wonder if the rest weren't actually about LOST, just a ploy to get us to see Star Trek next weekend ... but we had little snippets of a scene, one was a coffin being carried, a wedding, a baby, and children leaving school. All of these are plausible LOST story lines but also could be from Star Trek. Either way I'm intrigued!

3. Kate chose Jack! Well I mean Juliet helped her with her choice but come on, they've been the love story since day one so we're assuming since they are pursuing the hostiles with Farraday that they will take over in his quest to stop the incident and one thing Kate and Jack do well together is run through the island on a crazy mission and fall in love.

4. I love how well thought out this show is. Basically we're seeing a lot of flashbacks/flashforwards start to make sense. Farraday did his experiments on himself and it caused memory loss. This explains why he and Charlotte were flipping cards to test his memory. Also it explains why he was crying about the wreckage of 815 being found. And why he was digging at the Swan station at the beginning of season 5. Even though its not much, I just love when things get explained because I've spent quite a few years in the dark.

5. It was a tender scene between Farraday and young Charlotte. But I do remember her saying he scared her but it didn't look like that to me. But maybe that goes with the whole you can change the future thing that this episode seemed to point out.

6. I'm starting to have faith that LOST will be re-building Jack up again. He's been a little down and out so maybe now we'll see him responsible for the choice of whether or not the incident happens. So me thinks he does have a purpose going back after all!

7. The Variable - well this made a lot of sense. The Oceanic Six coming back is the variable that Dan never saw in his experiment. Since he knew nothing else could change unless it was reacting to an unseen changeable aspect, he should have assumed that him going back to the past could happen and affect the future. We've been saying it all along, that if they did go back in time, why couldn't they affect the future? Because it already happened and is the Oceanic Six's past? No, that could never have been true - maybe Dan Farraday should have watched Back to the Future!

8. So now is the real war between Ellie and Whidmore? Does Ben even matter to them at all? The Whidmore/Ellie dispute would make sense as to why Ben is on Ellie's side. It seems like Whidmore wants nothing but to find the island for himself and Ellie sent Daniel to try to prevent the incident by blowing up the island after everyone was evacuated thus ending the dispute for it for good? So why is she trying to keep it out of the hands of Whidmore? I guess all will be revealed in due time.

9. Richard Alpert - he still seems to be the key to everything as far as the explanation of the history of the island. There are so many different groups now its hard to keep them straight. Basically I think the Hostiles came over on the Black Rock (the boat from season 2) and lived there ageless until Ellie and Whidmore came over to explore the island (Government?). There was a change in regime (perhaps Ellie vs. Whidmore) and Whidmore took over. Dharma came to the island to explore and Ben joined up with the Hostiles and banished Whidmore. The Hostiles then took over Dharma becoming the Others. The Others then terrorize Flight 815. This all however will become obsolete if the incident does not happen. So that's my explanation.

10. What's going to happen to Sawyer and Juliet? Their secret has been found out all thanks to Phil and now they'll have to answer for it. It was clear to Juliet that he still loves Kate, but I think he'll stay with her. And I think that one of them will die, I don't think Daniel's death is considered big enough to be the big death this season.

Okay so I loved this episode obvio, tell me what you think because I think I have a headache from trying to think about it!

xoxo
Bridget

**Update - the mini commercial blasts were a preview for ABC's new show called "Flash Forward" which is set to take place of LOST. Miles confronts his mother on her death bed in his teenage years about his ability and asks questions about how he can find his father. She tells him he is dead and he can never go to the place where his body is located. Miles soon learns to use his ability to financially advance himself and he does is strictly for the money. He is then recruited by Naomi to work for Whidmore on the island for $1.6 million and after testing his abilities on a corpse, and he accepts. He is then kidnapped by Bram and offered nothing in exchange for his word to not go to the island. Since Miles is in it for the money he refuses to comply and they drop him out of the van after telling him he isn't ready for the island.

ISLAND
Miles and Hurley team up to drive a corpse to Dr. Marvin Candle, aka Miles' father. On the way, Hurley learns how Miles' father is on the island and Hurley accuses him of not taking destiny up on his second chance to get to know his father. They pick up Candle at the construction site of The Swan aka the Hatch and drive Candle over to the Orchid where he leaves the body. Later in the day, Miles is watching his family when Candle comes out and asks Miles to drive him somewhere. They go to the docks and see Farraday getting off the submarine, he recognizes Miles. Back in Othersville Roger is upset over his missing son and suspects that Kate has something to do with it. He asks Jack about it and Jack tells him to forget it. Later, Sawyer is confronted by Phil about Ben's disappearance claiming he saw the tape of Sawyer helping him escape and Sawyer knocks Phil out.

On to the top 10!

1. Okay so I thought this episode told us nothing. I mean yes it was confirmed that Miles is actually Candles' son but we totally already knew it. And yes we understand Miles can talk to dead people but come on! This we all already knew. We hardly even got new mysteries! That being said, I have tried my best to come up with a top ten list. So coupled together with the fact that I watched it in Spanish, I can't promise anything!

2. Hurley & Miles - So this new comedy team I like. I like how the producers and writers are answering our questions through Hurley. And I totally thought that Hurley was writing a diary of sorts about their island adventures, but alas, he was writing Star Wars! Pretty genius, I guess if I time traveled back in time I would re-write the Harry Potter series before J.K. Rowling and I would be a billionaire and I would buy you all a Firebolt! Woah did I just nerd out right there? Yeah, sorry.

3. The test that Naomi conducted with Miles was pretty clever. Also it makes a lot of sense with why he is there. Looks like Whidmore needs him to get to the bottom of how Ben eliminated Dharma and others. And I like how we got to see the fact that Miles will do just about anything if the price is right.

4. Bram aka annoying guy from October Road - I was certainly shocked to see him ride up and kidnap Miles. Now he can't work for Whidmore if he wanted Miles to stay away from Naomi and her mission and he can't work for Ben is Ben didn't acknowledge him in present time on the island so who does he work for? I'm gonna go with old Dharma. Since Whidmore, who I always thought was Dharma (and still possible could be), is an original Other/Hostile and Ben represents new age Other/Hostile, we still don't have a Dharma representative besides Horace who we all know dies. Also another important thing from this encounter was the re-emergence of the question about the statue's shadow? So looks like we'll find out what is there soon! Maybe dead bodies? Who knows.

5. So I think the most important thing we learned from this episode about time travel is that people from the future can see themselves in the past. Miles saw his family which included himself as a baby. He hasn't interacted with himself yet so I wonder if that is still a possibility but I assume we shall find out soon as I think Miles will try to get to know his father. Man, if I went back in time to see myself as a baby, I think I would start liking kids much more since I'm pretty sure I was an adorable baby.

6. Oh hello Daniel Farraday! We've missed you! So he's back, and I'm pretty sure its to cause the "incident" we are so looking forward to in the season finale (which has been named "the fork in the outlet"). So it looks like he's been working for Dharma all along these past three years, just off the island. So maybe now we will get to see him interact with young Charlotte.

7. The Swan - so they're only just now building the hatch, pre-incident. Maybe they don't know that the hostiles buried the A-bomb under there years ago and somehow during construction it explodes? Or maybe there is another magnetic anomaly somewhere else on the island and they are building this to study it only when the "incident" happens it turns into a save the world kind of station? I certainly don't know but boy am I pumped to find out!

8. Dr. Marvin Candle - Is is just me or do I only love the creepy characters on this show? You can see where Miles gets his awkward personality. What was most intriguing about him this episode is how he handled the corpse situation. This person was working in Hostile territory when all of a sudden his filing in his tooth shot out and went through his brain. Sounds pretty painful, remind me to never work on mysterious islands in Hostile territory with my filings still in tact, err not that I have many since I take good care of them. Well whatever, I never had braces so ha! 8. Marvin Candle - so he is awesomely creepy. Why is it that I feel myself loving the creepy bad assAnywho, back to LOST, so Candle, after disposing of the body at the Orchid station simply acted like a body never existed. So what did he do with it? Did he use the magical donkey wheel to send it somewhere in time and space? Does this sort of thing happen a lot where people die out working in Hostile territory?

9. Kate - um could you BE anymore obvious with Ben's disappearance? How did that girl manage to rob a bank, kill her father, kill her childhood sweetie, crash three cars, and escape? Well I guess not well since she eventually was caught. But Roger has a right to be suspicious. Thankfully his fears were somewhat calmed when Jack spoke to him. Anyone else notice how Jack was erasing an Egyptian history lesson? Erasing history? I smell a metaphor!

10. Sawyer punched out Phil! Phil has been pretty suspicious lately so I guess it was inevitable that he would find out what the old gang was up to but Sawyer's answer was to punch now, figure out later. Looks like your whole "thinking things through first" plan isn't really working. Do I sense the rise of Jack coming? God I hope so.

So next week we get to find out all about what Farraday was up to! I hope it was something good because while this episode confirmed a lot, and even gave just a few mysteries, I was just okay with it. Ben confronts Charles telling him that he is the one who wants the baby dead, not the island so Ben keeps baby Alex. Ben has help from younger Ethan to accomplish his tasks and at this point he still answers to Charles as his leader. Somehow we see Ben take charge and have Charles escorted off the island after having broken the rules of leaving the island and having a child with someone who doesn't qualify. Off the island we see Ben try to execute Penny but he hesitates as young Charlie arrives and Desmond attacks.

ISLAND
Ben wakes up to see a very alive John Locke. After stealing Cesar's gun and executing him, Locke and Ben head off to the main island to find Smokey so Ben can atone for his sins. They return to Othersville to find Sun and Frank waiting for Locke. Ben activates Smokey but Locke decides to lead Ben to the temple to confront Smokey sooner rather than later. Ben is shown the error of his ways, executing Alex, by Smokey and Ben apologizes. Alex materializes in front of him and threatens him to obey Locke. Ben swears he will.

1. Ben vs. Smokey - well now, this was an interesting scene. We finally saw the confrontation of a human vs. Smokey, and it looks like sometimes you live, sometimes you don't. In Ben's case he lived, in Eko's case he did not. I know! Remember Eko! So Eko refused to apologize and admit his sins so he died, yet Ben apologized and knew his choice with Alex was wrong, thus Smokey allowed him to live another day. That being said - I thought it was supremely cheesy, I mean Ben's my favorite so don't get me wrong, great acting, just the whole large images, being surrounded by the cloud ... I don't know, it didn't do it for me. BUT it was pretty cool how it came out of the ground all creepy.

2. Ben vs. the Humes - So it was very much predicted that Ben was hunting down Penny - an eye for an eye right? But looks like evil little Benjamin has a heart and when he saw young Charlie he felt pangs in his heart from little Alex and couldn't go through it. I don't understand why, he certainly has no problem shooting other people point blank (ahem Cesar, Locke, etc.), I guess he just couldn't kill a mother in front of her child, looks like there is a line for Ben. And then we got to see a much beloved character who I've been missing ... Desmond! I'd like to see how he bounced back so fast after catching that bullet to the chest ...

3. Sun and Frank. Okay so Sun is still on the lookout for Jin but what the hell is Frank doing? I mean its nice how protective he seems of Sun but honestly, what is his purpose? And he creeps me out a little ... so I wouldn't be sad if he would just go away, forever. And apparently they were waiting for Locke but when he shows up Frank just decides to peace? Oh okay, so he's all "hey Sun, sure I'll protect you from nothing until the crazy guys with guns appear and now I'll leave you alone." Some protector he is!

4. Locke - so Ben tells us the aptly named episode title that "dead is dead" and so Locke, while he appears to be alive, is something not so alive. So we can only surmise that he is in fact a manifestation of the island. I'm reading some religious undertones in this idea - coupled with the fact that Egyptian ideals seem to be popping up here and there and maybe somehow Locke is being equated as an Egyptian ruler, almost a god? So this might be how he knows things all of a sudden, like where to find Smokey and the Temple. I've mentioned the reincarnation theme and somehow Locke is all tied up with Christian but they have yet to reveal it to us.

5. I am NOT liking the new losties at all. First of all - guy from October Road - I'm not buying the bad guy image you're trying to sell me. Secondly, good for Ben for getting rid of Cesar, he is waaaay too nosey. And i knew the moment Ben saw that gun that it would be his. But it looks like that group isn't so random after all, they've got a mission and it involves that crate they were trying to pry open. So are we looking at another attempt by Whidmore to get back to the island or are we talking an entire third party with another issue to resolve? Dharma? Who knows ...

6. So, we see yet another aged version of Charles Whidmore. He came galloping in on us to his camp. I half expected cheesy romance music to be playing ... I had no idea that was Charles he looked too ridiculous! But he wasn't too pleased to see that Ben hadn't carried out his task as ordered. But he seems like a softie and let Alex stay under Ben's care. So we learned that Charles somehow was banished because he left the island too much and fathered a child with an outsider. Who is this outsider? Will we know her? Is it Annie because I'm dying to know when she'll come back!

7. I just about died when we got to see Desmond and Penny's little one Charlie again, he is just too cute with the curly hair. I'm glad to see they're off living their life ... but I won't lie, I want Desmond back on the island, brotha. Maybe shirtless. Oh quick note - the boat was named "Our Mutual Friend" which I believe is the name of the book that Desmond said would be his last one he ever read ... just a side note.

8. So Ben has recruited young Ethan as his helper. Is there something weird with Ethan since he was born on the island? Did he want to change like Ben wanted to? Will we ever see what happened to change his mind and leave Dharma to go for the Others or will it be that Ben forced him? Either way, Ethan creeps me out at any age!

9. I think an important scene was when Ben confronted Whidmore about the death of Alex as a baby. Ben mentioned that the island didn't want a baby to die, Whidmore wanted it dead. So if the island is all about destiny, and Ben challenges it by saying that it is just a baby and the island can't possibly want it dead, then what are we to think about destiny? It seems like everything that has happened was supposed to happen and if the island wanted baby Alex dead, then was it course correcting itself sixteen years later when Keamy killed Alex? Hello Final Destination much? This is definitely something I'm still really confused about so feel free to offer up an alternative explanation!

10. Next week we find out all about Miles! And if I was correct maybe he reunites with his father! Maybe we'll get some interesting insight into Locke since we don't know if he's alive, or dead, or a zombie!

Okay hope you enjoyed! Only four more episodes left this season so I'm sure they'll be full of answers and maybe a few more mysteries!

xo
B
Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-75165945918307301962009-04-02T10:07:00.012-04:002009-04-02T13:41:47.394-04:00Episode 11 - Whatever Happened, HappenedHi All, So not my favorite episode in a while but like many episodes this season it's confirming a lot of our theories. But I must say I do love how they're using Hurley as a proxy to answer some of the audiences questions - specifically the more confusing ones involving time travel.

SUMMARY

FLASHBACKS
Kate goes to see Cassidy and reveals the truth about the island, Aaron, and why she is there. Cassidy tells her that she took Aaron because she needed him to replace Sawyer. Over the three years they become friends and after Kate meets back up with the Oceanic 6, she almost loses Aaron in a grocery store. Her guilt over taking Aaron from his family causes her to return Aaron to Claire's mother and join the rest of the Oceanic Six as they return to the island so she can find Claire.

ISLAND Juliet tries to save a young Benjamin Linus but turns to Jack for help. When Jack refuses to save his life, Kate takes charge and decides to bring him to Richard Alpert. Sawyer joins her by letting her know he is doing it for Juliet and they take Ben into the jungle. They hand him off to Richard Alpert who says he will never be the same, his innocence will be lost and he won't remember what happened. Present Ben wakes up to find Locke still alive.

How awesome am I with the shortness of my summaries! woohoo on to the top ten!

1. I'm really enjoying how the Oceanic Six is rapidly becoming the cause for all of their own misfortune in the future. Their actions in the past are the catalyst for what happens to them in the future. It's a real ironic situation that Jack's refusal to save Ben is ultimately what causes Kate and Sawyer to give him over to the others thus causing him to lose his innocence and become the evil Ben that we know and love. And while it may have seemed cold hearted - I think it was the right choice for Jack at the time. If Ben lives in the future and you can't change anything in the past, then what difference does it make it Jack saves him or not. After everything that Ben put them through, I would want to test Farraday's theory too. Too bad he didn't though because then Ben could have avoided his destiny of being the evil leader that he is, but then where would we be without such an amazing character!

2. My heart broke just a little more last night when Jack said what he did to Kate. While I think Jack isn't totally out of line when he said Kate never loved the old him, how can he forget Kate in season one and two? She was totally in love with him! But good for Jack not putting up with Kate's flip flopping emotions, one day is Sawyer and the next it Jack! I say bring back Nathan Fillion her actual husband!

3. Kate did a lot of growing up. She realized that she only took Aaron to keep herself occupied while she was away from the island. So she gave him back to Claire's family and owned up to her mistake. I think she was fooling herself and us by saying she was going back to the island to find Claire. Kate, as we have seen, is manipulative. I mean she did commit murder, rob banks, identity theft, and a whole bunch of other stuff - so its not far off to think that she was lying about her motivation of going back to the island. It was for Sawyer and we all know it. Points for Sawyer for growing up and declaring that he was helping her for Juliet's sake, as much as I hate to say it. There was a time when I would rather Sawyer and Kate be together but since I'm still on for Jack and Kate I'll take it.

4. The Claire look-a-like trying to steal Aaron - anyone else think she's an other? Didn't they want Claire so they could have Aaron? Why would they give up so easily? She could be working for Ben so he could take him back to the island ... just a thought.

5. Time Travel - so they used Miles and Hurley to address the ever growing concerns of us mere confused fans. Basically it looks like they're sticking to their guns - Farraday's theory will prove correct in that Miles is standing by the old whatever happened, will happen. Since the future already happened to them, they are in the past thus anything they do is what has already happened. So Jack choosing to not save Ben happened and it is what caused Ben to become evil.

6. I think it would have been a lot cooler if Ben did remember Sayid in the future but alas Richard Alpert explains to us by saying that he won't remember with whatever he's about to do ... serve him to smokey? Who knows but we do know that whatever Richard Alpert does with Ben it will steal his innocence. I'm sorry, that's kind of a lame explanation for why Ben is the way he is. Couldn't they just left it at Ben hated his father and the way his life has developed so he chose his own destiny by joining up with the others and killing all of Dharma? Why does something have to make him evil, can't he just be evil because he chooses to be?

7. So Ben finally woke up to find Locke, gasp, ALIVE! Clearly we knew the confrontation would come sooner or later but I fully think that Ben's look of surprise was not so genuine. It's not like Ben hasn't tried to kill Locke before so I'm sure he knows that he's like a super-ghost or something and expected him to come back. I'm sticking by my whole re-incarnation theory with Locke and Christian Shephard and I think that Locke will want to proceed peacefully with Ben. What he wants with him, I have no idea, but whatever it is it will benefit the island.

8. Kate was looking much much better this episode! No more of that hideous braid! But I can't decide if I still like her as much now that I saw how much she hurt my man Jack. He seems so beaten down ... he did everything for her and it got him no where. I'm super interested to see what Jack's purpose becomes and I'm hoping he redeems himself. I just feel like LOST spent so much time and effort in building up Jack's character and now in this season we hardly see any of him. So they have to redeem him, and I swear this is not clouded by my obvious love for him.

9. Who will die next? Well they've announced that a major character will die this season and rather soon. I've been speculating that it will be Sawyer since his story line is dwindling but they have recently picked it up by making him in charge of the camp's security. But we learned what he said to Kate, which was super lame by the way, and now I'm not sure where they can go from there. But if not, maybe Ben will see his untimely end soon?

10. Richard Alpert, who is my fave, came back to take responsibility for young Ben. We briefly heard him mention to his others that he wasn't going to share this information with Ellie and Charles who appear to be his leader. So looks like we will find out how Charles and Ellie leave the island, which I'm sure has to do with Ben getting them banished from the island, and how Richard Alpert takes over as leader of the others. I'm excited to see this little coup and the "incident" played out! Perhaps that's Jack's purpose ... somehow making sure the incident happens!

Okay so that's all folks! I'm back to my normal schedule and I'm so sorry last week's came late. He is being held prisoner in the Dharma cell and we learn through a series of flashbacks how Ben no longer needed his help in executing Whidmore's guys. We learn that Sayid is intrinsically a killer and he returns to the island against his own will after having been captured by a bounty hunter hired by one of his victim's family. When Sawyer does all that he can to help Sayid escape without implicating him, he is brought to Oldham where he receives a truth serum and begins predicting the future. The group decides that Sayid will be executed until young Ben Linus helps Sayid escape with the promise of joining the hostiles. En route to hostile territory Sayid decides to change fate and shoots young Ben in the chest.

1. Okay so the obvious main point of the episode was to see a character try and alter the future with a major change. Sayid shot Ben. This goes against Farraday's theory that you cannot alter what has already happened in the present (2008). So clearly this episode put it to the test because Sayid shot young Ben. Too bad because he looked so sad and yet to hopeful when he found Sayid. So yes, it looks like a fatal wound to the chest but let's be honest here, it is Benjamin Linus we're dealing with, no matter how young and innocent he may look. So my prediction is that he is not dead and his recovery will be that of Locke's when Ben first shot him into the Dharma pit. Young Ben will know who and what Sayid really is, a killer, and that's why he will hunt down Nadia and find that the only way to motivate Sayid in the future is to give him reason for revenge.

2. Ilana - so it makes sense that she's a bounty hunter although honestly the only person who could have hired her to do so was Ben, since Sayid is waaaay to smart to leave any evidence behind. So Ben had him captured and put on the same plane to bring him back to the island. The question is - did Ben know that Sayid would shoot young Ben and thus still bring him to the island? Me thinks yes!

3. Umm Kate don't pretend you didn't know Juliet and Sawyer were a couple, it was so obvious from the get go! She won't let is go though, she's ruthless and she'll get Sawyer back ... I think we'll learn next week just what Sawyer whispered into her ear ... it should be tender. But I still love you Jack! Also It almost looked like Juliet and Kate were becoming, gasp, friends? Hell no - Juliet cannot have both hot men AND Kate as her friend. Let's be honest, Kate will employ some sneaky fugitive moves on her and try to steal back Sawyer. When will you learn Kate that Jack is your man! civilization. So he's some sort of witch doctor with his truth serum of sorts. I was a little disappointed that this is what happened but the

4. Poor Sawyer, he tried everything to save his lovely life he has going on in Dharma but Sayid is going to ruin it all! Despite his better efforts, Sawyer had to bring Sayid to Oldham (shout out to Bud Dearborn from True Blood haha my other fave show!) who lives in a tent away from DharmaDharma Initiative is a peaceful bunch so I wans't really surprised. Just the way they built up this guy seemed kind of a let down. This was probably the best scene of the episode however because Sayid was creepy. Radzinksy was freaked out that he knew the future plans and in his panicked state decided the penalty for Sayid was death. Sawyer seeing no way out had to vote unanimous. To be fair he did try to help Sayid as much as he could.

5. So why does Oldham live in a tent away from Dharma? Is it a sweat lodge like Locke's? I'm thinking he's not so powerful, all he really stands for is an image of being a really scary guy ... like they tell the rest of the Dharma peeps that he's a last resort and once you see him maybe they ship you off back to the mainland, just to keep everyone else in line. But then again, LOST doesn't usually introduce new characters for nothing.

6. Sayid looked so sad when Ben told him he didn't need to kill anyone else. To be honest Sayid, did you think you were going to do that you're whole life? And I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not so sure there's enough Habitat for Humanity to take away the guilt for killing all of those people, most of which you can't be sure if they were actually bad! And really, all it took was a visit from Ben telling Sayid he was allowed to kill more people because they were watching Hurley?? Sayid really is a bad guy then ... but still cool as hell.

7. So the return of Roger Workman aka Ben's dad! We knew he would pop up and now we totally understand why Ben is trying to escape his people. What I wanna know is where is Ben's little girlfriend? I want to see her pop back up!

8. There were a couple of Easter Eggs - the McCutcheon's whiskey (for $120 a glass!) and a Geronimo Jackson/Alice in Wonderland poster up in the cafeteria. I haven't seen the numbers in a while though ...

9. I'm glad someone asked what the heck they all came back for. What is the purpose of the Oceanic 6 returning to the island? So far it's just been chaos. I guess Ben was right, they never should have left ... then there wouldn't be all this time traveling business.

10. So my next thoughts are these - Kate, Sawyer, Juliet, and Jack: somethings going down and I have a feeling its going to be Kate and Sawyer icing out Juliet and someone dying and I vote Sawyer. Although I hope I'm wrong. I also think young Ben is still alive and will exact his revenge on Sayid in the future ... perhaps pushing him to initiate the purge much earlier thus causing the death of Sawyer. Just some thoughts, who knows if they're right!

Okay see you all this week, and sorry again for the late post!

xo
B
Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-8350442062803945132009-03-19T10:03:00.010-04:002009-03-19T12:01:45.233-04:00Episode 9 - NamasteWelcome back! After a two week hiatus LOST was back and I think they threw us a pretty good little episode. Now a friend of mine who shall remain nameless told me last week that my posts are less theory and more “Jack is so hot.” And yes that is true but only because of the recent nature of LOST. Mostly everything now is a confirmation of our suspicions but Stephen, oops I called you out, I will try my best to theorize today for you :) So I get kind of bored with the summary so I'm gonna make it super short!

SUMMARY

2007
Without a "Previously on LOST ..." we see the gang back on Ajira Airways waiting to get to the island. The plane enters some turbulence and Frank Lupidus tries to gain control of the plane when the flash occurs and throws the plane from stormy weather to clear and he safely lands the plane on the island. Lupidus, Ben, and Sun are the only losties who didn’t make the time jump and they trek off into the jungle following Ben. They decide to sail over to their island and Sun knocks Ben out and her and Frank venture over to Othersville. There Christian Shepherd appears and they follow him inside where he shows Sun a picture of the group working for Dharma back in 1977 and he tells them they have a long journey ahead.

1977

Sawyer picks up the gang from one end of the island and decides to integrate them with a recent sub coming back from the mainland. He and Juliet together manipulate the list and they arrive just in time for Dharma orientation. Dr. Marvin Candle welcomes Jack while Phil interviews Kate and gets a little skeptical until Juliet comes to save the day. Meanwhile Jin is over at the information station looking for Sun and a plane crash when Radzinsky finds a hostile in their territory. It turns out to be Sayid and Jin must hold him captive. They call Sawyer who takes him into camp and puts him in a jail cell underground. Sayid admits to being a hostile and is visited in his cell by a young Benjamin Linus who brings him a sandwich. Back upstairs Jack goes for a late night visit to Sawyer’s house and he finds Juliet there. Jack asks to speak to Sawyer and Sawyer tells Jack he has the upper hand now and Jack has to follow his rules.

Okay hope that was short enough … on to my theories!

1. So the tables have turned! Sawyer is now the leader and Jack is the mere follower. I don’t think this will last very long since it is in Jack’s nature to control! At least he wasn’t crying. Now Sawyer did have a good point, he thinks about his decisions but to Jack’s defense … everyone looked to him to make decisions and they weren’t always easy so he did the best he could. Also you could see the hurt and confusion in Jack’s face when he learned that Sawyer had made him a workman … low blow Sawyer. Personally I think they’re setting up this whole “Season of Sawyer” to get the fans on his side only to kill him at the end of the season and get the most sympathy. There has been a lot of discussion online that a major major character will be killed off this season and I’m guessing Sawyer.

2. Blast from the past – lots of old Others popping up in this episode … baby Ethan (how funny was Juliet’s face when she learned this information … is there more to that side of the story?) and a young Benjamin Linus. We knew he had to pop up somewhere so it’s likely we’ll see his dad Roger working with Jack. Now the question is (pointed out by my bright friend Katelyn D.) is that does Ben know all of the losties and knew they were coming or is this going to be a “memory” that he will soon remember like Desmond did when Dan Farraday came to him when he was in the hatch and Desmond in the future suddenly remembered? I think that Dan’s whole “You can’t alter what’s already happened” theory is wrong … because the losties know that Ben kills the entire Dharma Initiative so surely they will try to prevent this? And does Ben go through with it now that they have arrived?

3. Kate – come on! The braid? Really? I swear if she keeps this up I might turn into a Juliet fan … hahaha neverrrrrrr!!!

4. Sun and Jin – So why didn’t Sun make the jump? The only thing I can think of is she left her baby back on the mainland but I don’t foresee them bringing the baby back to the island so I have no idea. I sort of think they are just prolonging the Sun and Jin reunion. But Sun is awesome … we knew that Ben never made it to the boat, it was just so cool that Sun knocks him out with an oar. In the words of Tyra Banks, she is fierce.

5. The return of Christian Shepard. So I think Christian and Locke are one in the same … both reincarnated and not exactly dead and not exactly alive. I think he’s there acting as Jacob to guide the island on its true path … and it looks like he wants Sun to find Jin but she has to fix some error in her ways first – hence the long journey ahead.

6. Radzinksy – so he is a blast from the past. Radzinksy, we learn, is the one who designed the Swan aka the Hatch. He must have been the first inhabitant and he must have recruited Desmond’s former hatch buddy Kalvin Inman … so if his story is true then Radzinsky must shoot himself in the head … looks like we’ll probably get that back story.

7. So I’m gonna totally nerd out but Damon Lindeloff and Carlton Cuse (writers and producers) are letting the fans name the big season finale “game changer”. It has been “the donkey wheel”, “the snake in the mailbox”, “bagel”, etc. This is the big reveal at the end and now the fans can submit their names on the abc website. I haven’t thought of mine but rest assured I am definitely thinking about it, haha.

8. Sayid as a hostile – this episode was a big set up for that story … Sayid totally ruined Sawyer’s plans of integrating the Oceanic Six back into Dharma when Sayid was found and admitted to being a hostile. So I think next week Sayid is going to go all Iraqi on everyone and try to break out, thus exposing Sawyer’s secret. Because surely Dharma wouldn’t want to integrate a hostile. I hope we find out more about the Hostile/Dharma truce because I don’t really get it.

9. I so thought when they were going back to the information station that we would get to see Patchy! I miss him :( And since they blew up that station before ... did the set builders have to create another one? sucky.

10. I think this season will end with the “incident” and obviously it will involve the H-Bomb on the island. THAT will be pretty interesting to watch because clearly it doesn’t explode because then the island would be gone. But something terrible must happen so we’ll just have to wait and see!

Okay feel free to lay down your OWN theories! I’m looking at you Stephen!

xo

Bridget

Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899163287247208286.post-7704317656703531582009-03-05T13:15:00.008-05:002009-03-05T14:45:51.171-05:00Episode 8 - LaFluerHi!

Wow, interesting episode ... They find Daniel upset over losing Charlotte who's body didn't change with the flash (now we learn dead bodies don't go with the flash). They decide to return to their camp and wait for Locke to return with their friends. On the way they stumble upon a woman about to be executed. They kill the two men and save the woman. She insists they bury the bodies and brings the losties back to her camp, a place we've come to know as Othersville. She takes them through the sonic fence after Juliet warns her to turn it off. The losties can't handle the sonic fence and wake up in Othersville. Horace Goodspeed is the leader of Dharma and questions the losties about how they got to the island. Sawyer concocts a lie about being shipwrecked and owns up to killing the men who were holding Amy and her now dead husband Paul. When Richard Alpert appears Sawyer takes over the negotiations between Alpert and Goodspeed and confronts Alpert. Sawyer tells him he knows John and that they had a conversation about twenty years ago. Alpert agrees to back off if they give Paul's body to him and he leaves. Goodspeed decides the let Sawyer stay for two weeks and leave on the next submarine. Sawyer also convinces Juliet to stay two weeks to wait for the others and she agrees.

1974 ISLAND

Sawyer is called by other Dharma members as the head of security to find out what's wrong with Horace Goodspeed. He's found lighting dynamite and blowing up trees. Sawyer talks him into coming back and he admits he was upset about Amy who is now his wife and pregnant with their child. Sawyer informs him that Amy has given birth to their son but conceals the fact that he asked Juliet to help deliver the child which has survived the birth. Sawyer, Miles, Juliet, and Jin are all Dharma workers and are mapping out the island to search for their missing losties. Sawyer is living with Juliet as a couple and one morning he gets a call from Jin who says he's found them. He leaves Juliet and joins Jin who has picked up Jack, Hurley, and Kate from the jungle. A tender reunion ensues.

So I tried to write a short summary but we all know how that usually works out ... on to the top ten.

1. Juliet is the worst. That's how I feel solely based on the fact that I love Kate and Jack so much. That being said I do think she is an interesting character and yes she sort of looked good in last night's episode but let's all be honest with ourselves, who really believes that Sawyer really likes her more than Kate, and that she is always the other woman because no one really likes her at all? Sawyer will always love Kate but Kate will always love Jack. End of story.

2. Okay there were just a few too many holes in this one for me. Why did no one ask Juliet how she knew about the sonic fence? Or just accept that Sawyer aka Jim LaFluer would be okay with talking to the hostiles? Or that the mechanic for three years can suddenly deliver babies? Or not have the equipment to be surveying the island to see that the losties were never shipwrecked? I give Dharma a little more credit than that! Ohhhhh and apparently all you need are earplugs to defeat the sonic fence - duh why didn't I think of that! Come on LOST!

3. Jack looks goooooooood in a suit.

4. The four toed statue. We saw the back of it as Sawyer and co. were walking back to the camp. It looked sort of Egyptian and the cross that Amy saved from her 1st husband Paul's neck also is an Egyptian symbol. I think that the statue gives us a glimpse into the island past and I know this from sixth grade history - Egyptians were big into the afterlife and a big theme with lost is reincarnation of the dead ... so do we think that the hostiles are from an ancient Egyptian civilization? Just a thought ...

5. There is a glimpse of young Charlotte on the island and Daniel tears up. I still can't tell if he romantically loved her or loved her in a fatherly way ... but there still is an odd connection between them.

6. Dharma. So we got to see inside a little more of the Dharma Initiative in full swing. This is post Whidmore I think since we have yet to see him and Horace Goodspeed is the leader. Now Goodspeed I think is mythologically important to the island since he appeared in John's dream as a time loop. He seemed to be building something over and over again - Jacob's cabin anyone? Was he suffering from the sickness? Was he brought back to life after Ben gassed him and the rest of Dharma?

7. Hostiles. My man Richard Alpert was back and Sawyer totally called out his love for eye liner (which i think was an homage to the fans since people have been posting about it like crazy, myself included!). He didn't ask enough questions to Sawyer in my opinion, he was only concerned about getting Paul's body in exchange for Dharma killing two of their hostiles. This deal sounds a little like the deal Whidmore and Ben have and Ben claims Whidmore broke the rules when he killed Alex. If I were Richard Alpert I would have wanted to know more like when is Locke coming back? What time period is Sawyer coming from? And why was he satisfied with only Paul's body? Are they going to reincarnate him? You can tell I'm big into this whole reincarnation idea.

8. So i thought Sawyer was great in this episode - the whole romancing Juliet thing seemed a little weird and I was a little angry that the Kate and Sawyer reunion was a little less exciting than I thought it was but man Sawyer has that hottness stare down! I can't wait to see how he explains his affair with Juliet to Kate and to see how fast he ditches Juliet for her muahahaha Juliet. And so clever to put the ex-con in charge of security ... i do love me some Sawyer.

9. So Juliet successfully delivered a baby on the island. Woohoo she finally finished what she came here to do - unless the event that makes it impossible for women to give birth on the island hasn't happened yet - maybe it happened during the Purge and Juliet just thinks she's really clever. Nonetheless her mission is complete - does that mean she can be killed off now? A girl can only dream :)

10. Why oh why can't Kate go back to looking like an attractive person - what was up with that hair style and gross t-shirt! And wow Jin speaks perfect English, it has been three years but its just funny to hear him speak English! This episode was fluff - yes we visited the whole four toed statue, and yes we saw how Dharma worked back in its prime but I want some good old, island mystery, other-terrorizing, lostie gun toting drama! AND I can't believe they are making us wait a whole two weeks for another episode! Its okay because I love you LOST and I trust you will make the wait worth while.

Until next week!

xoxo

Bridget
Briggs313http://www.blogger.com/profile/17669473308302515865noreply@blogger.com1
